This is a well based complaint, and I think anyone with my position will think so! Hmm, so, what I complain about are all the sited that I'm a member of, which keeps sending me SEARCH EMAILS or SEARCH ADS, when I've unchecked the box in preferences!

Why do you guyz keep on sending me searches, because by mistake, I could click them, and then my account to be deleted (since I'm not from those countries).

WHYYYYY ?

I suppose those searches are advertisers searches whereas generally the searches that are not sent to you are webmaster's searches.

If an advertiser say I want an ad to all and it's a search ... webmaster sends it to all ... but doesn't garantee all will be valid searches.

Is how I do understand it in most of the cases ac.gif

I know that that's how it goes. If you pay for an ad to all, then it goes to everybody.

I wish that searches would only go to searchers, especially at sites who will delete your account if your email bounces 'x' amount of times. (Of course, I wish I was rich too, but that's beside the point ! ae.gif )

It seems rather unfair to sent someone something that they didn't want, won't click on, and are going to delete, then turn around and tell us to keep our in-boxes clean.

I say if you have not selected search, just click the links and get your credit?

I think if people would stop searching, that might put a stop to all those stupid search mails?

I only have search selected at one site and thats the only site I do searches for?

For me searches are an advertisment like another, I like to see something different rather than the sign-up page for other GPTREMs all the time ac.gif

And, when I click an ad for site xyz for example, I know I won't join being already a member, feel a bit unfair to the advertiser when I click on his ad and take the money knowing very well I can't sdupport him whereas when I make a search, I see a website someone has promoted thru PPCsearch engine, so that one is happy, the advertiser sending the searchlink is happy because he is paid and I am happy because I am paid too ... aa.gif

guess you right ... though I don't want to risk my account in some good sites!

FOR EX: ANNIES - sends search ads - though I've unchecked the search box

Guess I will search them ... from now on !

When some-one bye ad to all and it's search-link,it goes to all even if we don't select search as interest.I don't mide to do search for 2 cents as in annies I am receiving lots of 2 cent search emails, and I am happy. And always try to do valid search,so advertiser send more 2 cent links ab.gif
I think if I receive more paid links, even if it's searches,I reach pay-out fast.So I always like search ads.And when it's 2-3-5 cent ads I always try to do valid search.
And I think all the people click that search links even if they r from the countries which don't allow searches.
That's my openion. ac.gif

without search links many ptr sites will close, big ptr sites depend on small, new ptr sites, and small new ptr sites depend mostly on search links to keep alive and try to build a members base. of course i won't be promoting my Nilecash or mikes, or annies ref link in a small new ptr site that has less than 1,000. in the contrary, i will promote my ref link with the small new ptr site, in one of the big ptr's, only if i feel that this new site is promosing and will be smth big, it's difficult to know specially when you don't know who is the owner, or when it's the first site for the owner, but if this new program start to send paid emails, it will give an impression thatthis site will be smth big.

If you are the owner of a small new ptr site, and you don't own any other site, it is important to start sending paid emails to members early, otherwise they will feel bored and you won't be able to keep them, coz it is hard to get ppl advertising with you with your small members base. The solution might be in sending some search links, it may help at the beginning, members will have links to click on, and the owner won't be sending emails for free, or in swap with other small sites, this way the owner of this small ptr site may have a way, to keep his program alive and getting some revenue to help him taking off with his program.

That's true. I search at some sites, and not at others. I always try to do valid searches especially when i'm being well paid for it. I usually search site support links even if they are unpaid.

When you are a member of a lot of sites or you don't get through your emails every day (which I NEVER manage to do anymore !! ), you max out on searches very quickly.

I'd rather only do a few a day and make less money for myself than doing a bunch of invalid searches. I think that advertisers would rather see a smaller amount of valid searches than a large amount of invalid ones. I know that's how i'd feel.

I feel that way about limited click ads, and sometimes dont click on them if I know I cant support the advertiser. But when an ad is sent to all I am not hurting the advertiser by getting my cent. I sign up thru ads when I do join a program, so that keeps my conscience clean.

I never tick the search option so when I get searches I miss them out if I dont intend to search. If it's an unmarked search then I feel the advertiser or the po should have marked it if they were bothered about people clicking and not searching so I dont search.

Search ads can be a good source of income for ptr's so I wont go out of my way to harm a search advertiser by clicking when I dont intend to search. If I try to search and am unable to complete the search, I feel bad for the advertiser but dont blame myself.

It is a very good point I feel the same

I think Mentol is talking about something completly different.
Searches not selected but received got the mailbox full.
Mailbox full causes bouncings and then WM delete members.
In this particular case, I think paid searches in our mailbox are spam and WM have no right to complaint about bounced emails and the like.

The thing is the interest buttons are there to show us your interest I do not believe that it says anywhere that you will not receive ads for searches if you have it unchecked.. if a advertiser buys an ad to all we have to send it to all. Because that's what the advertiser has paid for us to do. That's their choice as it's their money. Likewise because you don't like searches unless u have a webbie saying search or get deleted (which I disagree with) it should be your option to search or not. It's like with ptrp advertisement not everyone that clicks is going to sign likewise with search ads to all not everyone that clicks will search. I always send my admin search mails and one's bought targetted to my search interest but if an advertiser buys it non-targetted then I send it to all. Just remember they maybe search ads but if they get good results they may come back for their other advertising needs.. so keep that in mind...

How about choosing not to be a member of sites that threaten to delete you for such things?

Now, I do charge a small fee, but that applies to only targeted search emails, which are clearly marked. If a search link is sent to the entire list, then there would be no fee for members from "non-friendly" search countries. I think if a site is expecting you to pay "extra attention" to regular mails and not search with those links, then there's a problem.

Plus, some sites don't even use the targeted categories at all. I got a few complaints recently for even suggesting that I'd use targeted emails for anything but search... aj.gif So, just be aware of how the site works, and don't expect them to all work the same way.

Funny, everytime I think about this subject I think "I can't imagine NOT searching for PenniesByEmail" a site which I believe sends all search links to all countries? I certainly hope no one is getting mad at Mary and Sandra - their sites have always worked that way!

yup (and thank you Alex ac.gif
We try to select search engines that have the widest possible countries allowed as well, never demand anyone search and thankfully so many of you do aa.gif
Being cac converted means a great many of our members never filled out interest, and search was added only in the past few months. Until recently we had ... hmm 10 ? people with search as an interest.
Myself if i am not in the mood (or have time) to search, i just don't click those links. Never seemed like a huge deal to me really. Only times i get annoyed is NOT with the webmaster but with search engines who seem to not understand that aol assigns very few ips and get the "only 3 searches per ip per day" idiocy comes up when i have not searched on that engine in days. And ocassionally with people who send in ads that demand and threaten, especially if they try and make it look an ad is from us.
