This is just a thought kind of anyways my thought is i DON'T think its fair to members of sites to be in a referrel contest with another webmaster. let me explain. say you are in a referrel contest ok and you are out there advertising this certain site well call it boneheadmails ok and you are out there advertising bone headmails on all these other paid to read email sites . well who is to say that one of these other sites let call one paintedpantsmail ok is also in the referral contest right for boneheadmails. well How do we other members of this paintedpantsmail is going to put your ad or banner or link out there for boneheadmails? In the mean time they have theres out there and guess what they win the referrel contest.
I mean think about it they own there own site they can easly lose or misplace your ad intentionaly or unitentionaly so that you wont win the contest. They can easily place there ad on there site and advertise it big time and pay later.where when we want to advertise we eather have to use redemptions or pay for the ad upfront (no credit here) to get our ads out there. What it boils down to is I personally don't think it fair to be in a referrel contest competeing against other ptr/ptc webmaster owners. What are your thougts about this?
jazmyni
Actually as a program owner of many sites and have had many contests......

It has been in my expereince that members tend to do MUCH better than the webmasters in the contests LOL

Out of all the referral contests I have had to date........Only 2 times was a program owner in the top 3......and never was 1st place

sophieca
Hi,

The webmasters where I advertise never ever put their ads before the ads of their advertisers, they therefore are disadvantaged in ref contest but it is part of the service to their advertisers.

And like Jaz said, generally webmasters aren't doing much better than members these days unless they work very hard ...

What I dislike is when there are two categories, members and webbies ... loads of members entering in one category and only a few webbies in the other competing for the same prizes. Have seen refcontests when 10th member in the winners list had 20+ referrals and number 1 winner in webbies category had only 5 or 6.
AHASHIMH
Agreed with jazmyni and sophieca. WM may have the advantage of getting more ref if they advertise in their own prog, but members may advertise at many diff prog. It depend mostly the earliest to advertise. I saw/read somewhere even if they combine, WM was not even on the top 5.

And I think this should be in general discussion folder

Hope this doesnt sound stupid but what is a webbie?

own a paid-to-read or paid-to-click program aa.gif

I agree with you, it isn't fair. ac.gif

Most of the contests I see are seperate ones with seperate prizes.
Think they are fair,
If I had to compeed against Enchanted or Ironsides (not that he ever wins one)
I wouldn't do it.
I don't think that they are cheating, they value their advertisers verry much!

WOW... Lucky you. I am a member of over 80 I think it was, lost track. But am active in all of them. Ref contests are hard I think, but thats because I dont have the money to send out ads nor buy the refs, especially since I just got arc79 in one of my programs aa.gif I'm gonna need all the money I can get, haha.

I am a non-webbie about to become webbie so I'll give you my view from the other side soon enough! I;ve won a few referral contests, on LMS paid mail and another program that I have forgotten the name of! If your worried about wm's replacing your link with theirs on an advert you have paid for then when you click it have a look at the bottom taskbar on your browser, it should show the target URL of the page you are viewing, even if only briefly, and you can check its your link. Although doing so makes you excessively paranoid.

There are people out there that haven't joined penniesbyemail...I know it is hard trying to recruit people when the person that is in "charge"(???) of advertising for the goldmember rotation has banners all over the place...But I have heard that that person didn't send out any new banners until a few days ago for the program...
