Since I already posted, I might as well add my 2 cents worth of thinking on this subject...
While I cannot fault the purpose of the test email, it does seem a bit excessive that people got deleted on the FIRST mistake.
I do not belong to the program, so I did not get the email in question, but I was ALMOST caught out by two test from another WM who also did not have DO NOT CLICK warnings...why you may ask?, because until last wednesday I had been on dial up, so my habit was (still is in fact, trying to change now), click the link, then read the email while the clicked page loads, in case you have forgotten pages can take 15 seconds or more to load if you are on dial-up, plus timer plus server lags in getting the timer running, some times a 20 second link could take 1 1/2 minutes...
I think a more realistic approach would be to send the test several times and delete those accounts that consistently failed it (3 times or more).
So I applaud the ends but deplore the means as it were...

I'm on dial-up, too, and hardly ever have to wait that long.
Mike, and other webmasters, have warned in emails previous to the test links that they were going to send the test links. It pays to read first, then click. It doesn't really take much longer.
