ao.gif ae.gif ad.gif Here's my follow-up post to my post on the famous so-called " English Test " given by " Proffesor " Mike at Emailmatters.com.............After reading some of the responses posted to this issus by other members , I only have one thing to say.......THE HECK WITH EMAILMATTERS.......If Mike owns any other websites out there, please someone let me know so I can quit them right away......This whole thing was nothing but a shameful SCAM ..........He got some of us with his miserable wording of his email and I guess I have to live with it.....As far as it goes to the ones out there that posted a reply crediting this " ###### " , I hope that one day the same thing happens to you........I have been doing this PTR and PTC Programs for over a year now , and this is the worst thing that I have ever seen done by a program's owner........ I know how these things work.....I read every email sent to me by these programs and I am probably one of the only ones out there that gets annoyed if I cannot complete a valid search because of one reason or another.......I am a college graduate from Ohio State and understand the English Language perfectly.......When I said that the email was improperly written, maybe in an attemp to fool us into loosing our hard earned pennies , I meant it........Well , this is the end of it !!!!! I've spoken my mind.......I will always stand by my belief that this man commited a " SHAMEFUL SCAM " , and Shame on me.............His site should be " BOYCOTTED " by everyone out there that really understands what he did............." AU REVOIRE, Emailmatters !!!!!!! "

I also am annoyed when searches don't work ac.gif Because we're some of the few that get paid to click the search link and actually make a search ae.gif

I thought his wording was very clear. If you couldn't understand you shouldn't be in a ptr program. That's what we are paid for, TO READ the AD.

THe only problem I have with email matters is that if someone missed the e-mail or deleted it they would have missed the test.

That test could have been passed by a first grader.

You shouldn't start yelling scam scam scam when you know it isn't.

I agree completely with you, Santie... Perhaps putting a time limit and requiring that members take the test was a bit much, but tthe basic idea is a good one, IMO. aa.gif

I also have to side with Santie and the WM here.

Yes - you did have to read that email carefully to make sure you made the right selection but as some of the prior posts mentioned, the points were to verify people understood english and were paying attention to the emails.

There are probably other ways this could have been done but I think the basis of what was done is understandable.

LOL

I read it and understood it perfectly on the first try, and english is my second language. I grant you the thing about everyone HAVING to do it is kinda weird but the question by itself was, or should be, perfectly understandable IMO.
If i can then someone with english as the first language should have no excuses.

I think deleting people on the first offense is a bit strong though, three strikes and you're out is more along the lines of what i believe is right.

just my .05 points

Can we ask what the wording was?
KimH
Wow hunyuky, Mike got ya huh? Didn't know if pigs and horses were Dogs, chocolate or animals I guess. Sorry no pity from me, I learned eons ago, to actually READ my emails. Oh and BTW, there are already at least 3 topics on this, why another?

Its posted here, somewhere, on another one of the tired threads on this topic....it was as clear as daylight! That is, if anyone is actually reading their emails. I think if someone complains that they are only reading emails for pennies and therefore dont have to be subjected to this kind of thing - well then stop reading emails for pennies! Go find yourself a ptr that will pay you to read for dollars - good luck (and please pm me the link ab.gif )

I saw the e-mail, and there should have been no problem with it if you read it. I gotta disagree about the time limit, though.

Good point. Drop it already. You screwed up, and a lot of us don't care anymore.
Quickly. I must grind horse up. But wait. Will I make it into Jello gelatin, or glue?

(Yes, people, gelatin, the same in Jello, is from animl bones, usually horses)

Maybe the horse isn't really dead. Maybe it's two guys dressed up in a horse suit wreaking havoc at GPF reviving every dead issue they can dig up.

Dead horse or no ... the email was simple to read -- anyone with a second grade level of reading comprehension could figure it out aa.gif

Cheryl going to make some horse hoof jello. Strawberry flavour. Yum.

Since I already posted, I might as well add my 2 cents worth of thinking on this subject...

While I cannot fault the purpose of the test email, it does seem a bit excessive that people got deleted on the FIRST mistake.

I do not belong to the program, so I did not get the email in question, but I was ALMOST caught out by two test from another WM who also did not have DO NOT CLICK warnings...why you may ask?, because until last wednesday I had been on dial up, so my habit was (still is in fact, trying to change now), click the link, then read the email while the clicked page loads, in case you have forgotten pages can take 15 seconds or more to load if you are on dial-up, plus timer plus server lags in getting the timer running, some times a 20 second link could take 1 1/2 minutes...

I think a more realistic approach would be to send the test several times and delete those accounts that consistently failed it (3 times or more).

So I applaud the ends but deplore the means as it were...

I'm on dial-up, too, and hardly ever have to wait that long. ae.gif

Mike, and other webmasters, have warned in emails previous to the test links that they were going to send the test links. It pays to read first, then click. It doesn't really take much longer.
