Are they geared towards people with their own websites or can anyone join them and search on their own?

Most of new engines will take you even if you don`t have a site
(or you only have free one at freewebs, geocities ect)

But you aren`t alowed to search by yourself
You need to promote them

I would make a free site with freewebs or someone and then maybe start a thread here on the GPF...people search for you and you search for them back. Ann44, most search engines work best when you have a website. If you don't have a website, and you're not confident building one, I think you should consider taking Tonya up on her VERY GENEROUS offer.

Many of the search engines have different rules, but there are quite a few that pay you for the searches you make, usually limited to 1-3 per day. If you're just getting started in GPT, its an easy way to earn a bit of cash, especially with the search engines that pay each month.
