My account was cleaned out and sent to Ye HA e-gold account #896624. I have only had my account for under a month. Never have I had any virus's, or given out my account number. But good old E-gold tells me to get an attorney. Sure I am going to get an attorney!. It would cost more than I lost. But my question is has this happened to anyone else? E-gold says they can't do anything. They told me they don't reverse transactions, without a court order or subpeona. Why does E-gold have a resolution deptarment, when they can't resolve anything! Looking ro any words of advice! E-GOLD SUCKS!

a friend of mine's e-gold was hacked recently. her password was changed to 'who F####D you ?'. they got a grand total of 75 cents....

The thing I hate is everyone, just about use's e-gold. So I am in a bad situaition. I don't want to keep money in my e-gold account, but need to use it to do transactions. The other thing is good ole E-gold isn't regulated like any other normal bank. Like in the states youare regulated by the federal government. E-gold isn't. They could take your money and tell you tough luck!

Thing you MUST find out now:

how did they get your passphrase, because they got it

?you used a site looking like egold and entered your passphrase

? or worse, you have spyware or keystrokelogging on your computer

Thats the problem I have no idea how they got my passphrase. I have only had my account for less than a month! The only way possible is I used the same passowrd as I did on some of my PTR signups. The only way then would be if a WM did it.

Tredwing: so sorry to hear this Make sure you change your ciritcal accounts passwords so that you do not use the same one as any of your rewards programs. I remember reading about some security flaws in some of the scripts used by rewards programs, and that there were upgrades available but not all rewards programs have installed upgrades. Sorry my memory is fading. But suffice to say, change your passwords for paypal etc. asap.

Also - I know you said you don't have any viruses. I am assuming you also checked for trojan horses etc.? Sometimes they might exist even when you think they don't.

There were a number of people who have had their accounts (egold and gpf) hacked lately. Do a search on older threads and there are some good info there.

I lost 460$ with egold,as you mentioned they are useless.
First of all in email notification you rceived there is an ip address.
Track down the host of the hacker,i got him in belarus and nailed him
by local police however funds obviously are gone but he spends sometime
behind bars now!
If you have an ip address or need it from egold ask for it,special programs will show you
the host and then amail the host of ip with the ip address and describe the situation,they can
get him/her from their log files.
Never use same password for egold with any other site!
Keep more than single account,the one with funds should be hidden and not posted anywhere.
when in need for funds transfer from your hidden to the other one required amount.
Change your passwrod on regular basis and after you submitted or used payment via any site.
Keep internet alert security program will alert of any hacking attempts to your machine when u r online.
Use antitrojan programs and antivirus program to protect your self.
I use also program which enables me to read my mail on the server without d/loading it to my hard drive
so can't get infected and also stop any malicious script of runing such as worms sent with mail
Scan your entire hard drive to find out oif there is any trojan or execuatble virus file traced on you hard drive now.
Logging into egold,never ever type your password which can be recorde always use the srk feature.

Never use the same passwords. Even on different PTR sites try to use different passwords. Do you know that program owners can see your password not encrypted by looking into user details? Each owner is a potential hacker and there are many programs started only in this purpose (to steal). Sorry to say that but this is true

Are you sure its egold your thinking of? For a start you cannot see the password in the account (so how do you know what it was changed to???) - secondly - egold don't have anywhere in your account to store bank or credit card information LOL - paypal do.

Sorry to hear of your loss tredwing. too many egold accounts get hacked these days. A hacker friend has showed how easy it is to do this.

Make sure you have a good firewall, an anti spyware program (search for one called spybot search and destroy its very good), and don't have instant messengers/chat/kazaa/etc open when you logging on - because these all open bits on your pc for a hacker to grab your password.

Even spending to hyips or ptr sites using the egold shopping interface is not safe. they can capture your password as you enter it when making the spend. If a site will not let me send the money from inside my egold account (not shopping interface) - then I do not deal with them. Its one of the most common ways to get passwords. Your transaction will even look like it has gone through fine - but they will have gotten an email with your password in it
