I have created a script to send out emails in a flash. The way it works - you get to set your batch size (10,100,1000,5000,etc) and send out your email. The email addresses get's put in a que to send out address in bulk as bcc. So instead of waiting for the server to generate 5000 emails, it would only have to generate 20 emails of 250 addresses each. This dramatically improves the send mail speed from minutes to seconds.
I'll have to modify this and whip up instructions if anyone is interested. I will offer it for $50 but willing to negotiate.
My email address is webmaster@NOSPAMdirtcheapemails.com (remove the NOSPAM).
Thanks

Just a few questions.
1. Are your script written in perl and could run with a browser?
2. Integrated with the original CAC admin interface?
3. It use the email.txt file of the original CAC script as the source of address?
4. How many times faster than the orginal mass mailer? Say how much time does it take you to send 5000 email?

1. Are your script written in perl and could run with a browser? YES
2. Integrated with the original CAC admin interface? YES
3. It use the email.txt file of the original CAC script as the source of address? YES. I have one for pre- and after 3/12 security update.
4. How many times faster than the orginal mass mailer? Say how much time does it take you to send 5000 email? Roughly 30 seconds on my server. Normally, my mass mailer would time out at 5 min. just with 500 addresses.
Thanks

If I get 5 interested persons to buy my script - I will sell it for $12.50 each, along with instructions and support. I would like to see 5 CMI posted in this thread before I release it. Please email me if you post a CMI to: webmaster@NOSPAMdirtcheapemails.com
Here is a snapshot of the interface:

go host at myecom he does it all for free  any updates, if you want to change the send feature he did that on mine for free and he's also doing the paid links for me so you guys don't have to add you email address anymore

Yeah but with the way he does it so members dont have to add their email makes it so you lose banner impressions.
Plus sorry to say but at 5gig transfer a month thats $15 + $16 (4 gigs over bandwidth) = $31
Take away the banner impressions you lose....
Sorry I dont think MEC is the right host. Plus I asked John for hosting before he started hosting most of these sites and was told he didnt have the time.

No I was talking about MEC hosting... He gives you ONE gig of bandwidth. Its $4 per gig over per month. Most CAC's use up 5+ gigs a month....

Problem is, if your members have spam filters on their mail, a large group of BCC will filter into spam.
It's best not to sent emails from the server. Have the script print out a large text file with all the email addys. Then you can go use a program like Group Mail Plus that will extract the addys into a mailing list, and you can send it from your ISP conection. No bandwidth charges

Group Mail Plus is good. But it cost $179. If I can buy a script at $12.50, it is less than 1/10 the price. Furthermore, I don't need to download the email.txt and import it everytime I want to send email.

Initially switching, I say there was about 20% decrease in click-throughs, probably b/c of the spam filter. However, within a few weeks, I was pretty much back to par as I am assuming members set emails from us as "non-spam" (which btw I do with my Hotmail).
The big benefit is it just takes away all the strain and bandwith from the server

Sorry to say this but CMO.. I just took the plunge and had MEC add it to my site...
ALso if you send from your ISP I am going to bet they nail you for spam or bulk emails.

No, they wouldn't do anything for mailing to a legitamate mailing address.
It's just a suggestion if you wanna keep mail out of people's spam filters and have zero strain on your server.

I find that worldcast is a cheaper alternative than Group Mail Plus. I have a tried on it. If I did not use the bcc option and send it without a smtp server. The mail could be send out at a rate on ~15000/hours on my Atholon 1.2G 384M RAM desktop. This is slower than my linux server which could be faster. However, there is no timeout problem which is encountered with the script when I choose to send >500 emails at a time. I just press the button and went away for a cup of tea and it will finish the job. While I need to sit in front of the browser and wait for the screen to update and repeat the action 10 times in order to send 5000 emails with CAC mass mailer. Worldcase is a good non-bcc alternative for the CAC mass mailer.

Michael,
I just d/l WorldCast, but haven't used it yet...
Do you know of a way to send out just a certain number of emails, say 1000 out of your list?
lgwong
Mar 31 2002, 07:28 PM
Apparently no. You need to do this manually, say by opening your email.txt with excel and delete all those email that you do not want or copy and paste those that you want into another file. Anyone that can do this smarter?
And I have make a mistake on the number on my last post. It is 15000/hour not 150000/hour.

Why pay for Group Mail Plus, when the old Group Mail version is freeware? Just search for Aureate Group Mail, or send me an e-mail.

Or you could just write a 5-10 line PHP script that just reads the addresses X at a time, very simple
