YBonline: Is your solution to every confrontation to just close a thread???

You ask me a question, then close the thread?
quote:
Then wouldn't the MyECom announcement of the same thing be spam?
You did the same thing with the MyEcom hosting thread, just so you could have the last word:
http://www.getpaidforum.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ul...46&t=000101&p=3

Just to answer your question about your blatant spam, the MyEcom hosting announcement was announcing the re-opening of the host, no links, no prices, no product information, like yours had.

Here's the MyEcom announcement:
quote:
For those of you who were waiting on myecom.net for hosting, it is back open
Course you are going to have to get in line behind me, just transfered 3 domains.

Here's yours:
quote:
Yes, we finally launched our website and the sites are fully functional and for sale!

It costs $299.95 for a basic website and $499.95 for a full website (limited time only)

You get all the features that come in a paid email site, a channel in our IRC server, and more with the basic package. Demographics as well as several other features are available in the advanced package.

You can also purchase additional features on a per feature basis and we are also working on programming many new features that no other software currently has.

Our website is located at http://www.getpaidsite.com
Our IRC server is located at irc://irc.getpaidsite.com

You see a difference? That's what I thought...

You should not be a moderator if the sole purpose of it is to close threads that you don't like or where you're losing an argument or to spam.
YBonline
Actually what happened is I accidently closed the thread because my mouse clicked on that button, I thought I reopened it but I guess it didn't go through (I might have gotten distracted from the IRC chat that I was in the process of getting setup for GPF). In any case, I did reopen that thread. I didn't actually mean to close it.

My post was informative, letting people know that we have launched the site (I received large numbers of private messages and emails from this forum about it already, so instead of individually replying to every single message asking me when or letting them know that I have launched it, I have simpily posted it here).

I don't consider that message spam. Its an informative message.
YBonline
Oh, and if I was a moderator because my "sole purpose" is "to close threads that you don't like or where you're losing an argument or to spam", then I wouldn't have worked on the downline threads folder when it was a complete mess getting it completely restructured and functioning, rewrote all of the downline thread rules (several times), host the GetPaidForum IRC Chat channel on my server, spend a lot of time working to solve problems, and so on...
Chris Houlihan
So you accidentily closed two different threads??? Both where it just so happened that there was a confrontation involving you or your site??

A little hard to believe to me...

The MyECom thread was closed on purpose because it was way off topic. The thread that I started was accidently closed.

Ybon, I am sorry, but the only reason that thread went off topic in the first place was because you were plugging your hosting, your gpt sites. Telling people to "hold off" on using my ecom because you felt you had something better. When I started that thread I certainly did not mean for it to turn into a confrontation of any kind, I just knew of several webmasters who had been, like myself, waiting for John to reopen that service.
There seems to be, at the least, a conflict of interest between provider and moderater here.
lgwong
Just hold off the argument for a while. I have PMed Ybonline on this issue.
Chris Houlihan
Thanks lgwong, its about time something is done...

Sorry, I thought moderators have the right to do that because this is their forum (getpaidforum.com).
Chris Houlihan
No moderators don't have the right to spam.
And it's not the moderators' forum, its lgwong's.
YBonline
Let me explain something to you. Moderators do not lose rights when we become a moderator of a forum.

If a regular member posted the same message as I posted, no one would have said anything. This has happened in the past. Moderators also have the right to participate in debates, disagree with other members, and so on. Moderators have the same right as members, except they get the controls to moderate threads, where we get the responsibly use them.
Chris Houlihan
Yes, something would definitely be said if someone who wasn't a moderator posted this. It is blatant spam, nothing more it's an ad with prices, links, features, and the like, there's no way to disguise it as anything else.

Do moderators also have the right to close threads when they think their site will get a bad name for itself?
cloud^77
hehehe...okay... I understand now.
So, it means that only lgwong can do everything that he wants to do because he owns this forum but moderators just like regular members except they have access to some special features.

I highly doubt that my site would get a bad name regardless of that thread anyways.

Is there any reason to this thread other then to argue?

How old are you YBonline?
YBonline
Age means nothing in life, a 50 year old could be as mature as a 10 year old, and a 10 year old could be as mature as a 50 year old.

It was a simple question so I will try again. How old are you YBonline?
YBonline
Chris, if you want to discuss this further, please send me a private message and I will happily discuss it with you.

This thread is going to be locked as well because it is pointless and just some people have trouble understanding things.
lgwong
To avoid spreading discussion over different trheads and folder, I will close this thread. Please continue the discussion in this thread.
