what kind of advertisement do you want, advertising on your site or someone else that promotes your site on his ...
you can suscribe in search-engines that pay, in gptr programs if you want a lot of visitors at once, or buy advertising at big sites if you want te get more hits or suscribe in banner exchanges
to get money on from your site by promoting others: belgian-bucks pays users to have banners on their site where they earn on, smoke... is one of them, otherwise, if you have a lot of visitors, you can suscribe in big ones, then you'll earn about 0.01 cent/bannerview or something like that ...

I have had some success with safelists. There are a bunch out there but here are a few I have stuck with:
Adtactics and Safelister are definitely worth looking into.

As with any business the intent of your advertising will determin the best approaches to take. What do you want to advertise, or the type of site you want to advertise? I think that is the first question then subsequent questions can be answered.
If you start with some general information, we can avoid giving useless information and go straight for what you will use.

I haven't used safelists in some time but I did have a fair amount of success. If you take this route go for the smaller one with no more than 500 members. Anything larger than that and its pretty unlikely that anyone will ever read your ads.

Most safelists are pretty useless, just like traffic exchanges.
You need to go for "real" advertising, like buying advertising on other websites, pay per click with Google Adwords and Overture etc..

yeah I say that all the little stuff is for little fish, if you want to compete with the big guys then you need to spend money to make money.
You know how rich people stay rich right? They penny pinch, so once you have a good amount of money then start saving. Take the time now na duse what you can to advertising as Jakob says and you will see some increase if not a lot.

Don't forget off-line advertising! Flyers, business cards, signs. Lots of people out there in the world want stuff (or to make money at home or whatever), but are not already joining advertising co-ops on line.
I like to print bookmarks and 'accidentally' leave them in library books I borrow that have something to do with the topic of my site.

That depends on what you want to advertise. Free traffic exchange sites, List builders and a blog are great to advertise gpt and mlm programs.

There is one very effective way to get traffic to your site which is through articles submission and ezines. They can publish it for free provided they do not alter anything and must include the author details. It's one form of viral marketing to get free traffic.
