MEC-co-op-paidmail deleted me a week or so back. They say I ahdn't clicked for 30 days. I had - but they kept on implying I was an ######, and when i suggested the scripts could be at fault this was dismissed.

So I wrote to the ever helpful John orjas who looked at the MEC-co-op-paidmail site and said that there was no version number, so old scripts were being used (at teh very least 7 months old). These have a known bug that could cause only certain types of clicks to be counted.

About a month agao, I'd had enough of all the point linsk from MEC-CO_OP (they get so boring), so stopped clicking them, and just clicked paid links - so, hence the deletion it would seem.

So a warning:

1) Make sure you click point links too
2) Don't try talking to Carole - YOU as the CUSTOMER are in no way right according to her. Mmm - contrary to known rules of business!

I've deleted my account (she originally reinstated me but refused to admit that it may have been her fault) and the $8 and a dozen referrals in it- I cannot be bothered by such poorly run sites (no updates on scripts) or such a rude webmistress

No version number?????????????

All sites need to have a version number of the scripts
freeandeasy
I don't know about old versions of cc scripts, mine stays updated.

But here is one thing I do know, there IS a glitch in the cash crusader script that overlooks active members.

When a search is done for inactive members, you specify how many days of inactivity you are looking for.
For example, if you delete members who have been inactive for 30 days, you have a text box on the inactive members' search page in which you type the number 30.

After you have filled in that box, you press the search button, and all the members who have not clicked in 30 days comes up. There is a check mark beside each inactive member's username by default, except upgraded members and those who have their vacation settings turned on.

At the top of the page, there is a mass delete button. One click and every checked (ticked) member on the page is purged from the system.

But there is one small problem..... there is a glitch in the system which brings up actively clicking members on that page.

For this reason, I NEVER EVER use the mass delete button. No WM should ever use the mass delete button!!!

I check every single account that comes up on that page (except vacation-set ones), individually. I am amazed at the number of accounts which came up as inactive are actually active clickers!

There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for inactive members to be deleted. I am certain that must be why Carole deleted me at mec-co-op a few months ago, she insisted I would not have been deleted if I had been clicking, but I WAS clicking!!!

(At least she reinstated my account, probably only because I raised a really big stink about it here at the forum).

I hope other owners of the cash crusader script will take note of this, and NOT use the mass deletion button!!!

I'm betting that carol thought she was still getting the automatic updates, like she did when using myecom shared hosting (a perk for hosting with myecom). She is still with myecom but is on a dedicated server now.
taxlady2
Yes i am on a dedicated server.
Yes i still host with myecom
and I have never been told that i don't receive auto updates

I would assume that i do, since i pay $150 a month for server fees.

I will contact John again about this.

Hello All....as a programmer I can honestly say that not all scripts has a version number it is according to the script writer, however, the program scripts does have a linking number to the page there isn't really anyway out side of going to the server in the script files and locating it. It's at the beginning of the file, however, this isn't a true way of actually determining hpow "old"the scripts are.

We are specifically referring to the cash crusader scripts, which is continally being updated.
The newer the version number, the newer the script.
If it does not have a version number, it is an old script.

just got the following from mec-co-op :
Well to my utter surprise, i found out today that my updates to the scripts are not automatic since i moved off the shared servers.

I had in the past had the scripts auto-updated, and assumed since i still host with myecom that the updates were automatic.

After deleting a lot of members on June 1 for 7 days inactivity, i find that the scripts were wrongly not counting the paid2clicks as a click in the inactive report.

So the members who claimed to have at least clicked on the paid2click page were wrongly deleted because nobody ever told me i had to do the updates myself on a dedicated server.

I have company now, so i can't do it now, but will do it tonight asap.

Needless to say, i'm pretty upset about not being told this, as i would never have done that mass deletion had i known the scripts had that flaw in them.

>From what i see, the files i need to upload, shouldn't affect the opreation of the site, but just in case i do mess up something, i wanted to let you know what i was doing just in case...

so you should be re-instated and an active member again soon !! aa.gif

that is if she still has the posibility to do so to find all those accounts she just deleted.
I am glad i am not in her shoes rightnow. She was right in what she has done in the past by deleting all those inactives in the program (or what the scripts considered inactive). To find out now that some of them might have been removed unjustly must be a large blow to her.

Glad things are working out ok

I knew I hadn't lost my mind when I got deleted. I was positive I was clicking. But
Carol told me I must have been deleted for not clicking the emails. I knew I was...but what do
I know?? She's the one with the program.

It's nice to know that I wasn't losing my mind. ai.gif Ok-at least in this instance.

Is there anyway for her to look at all the people she has deleted in the last 2 months?
If she restore from a back up, will we have to unsub if we don't want to belong?

Carole I have stood by you through thick and thin........good times and bad
But you send too many ads for this crap

You must let ad timers expire before clicking on another ad!

If you are going to work this way then I have no choice then to leave
jdtonya
Ms. Free, I see that you're here and can probably answer this ab.gif

wouldn't this be due to Carole installing ALL of the updates...and she probably hasn't gotten a chance to turn the darn thing off?

I clicked redeem button right around the same time. Still have not received payment, but I am not worried about it - yet! She states that redemption requests will be paid by the 15th of the following month. SO, I am waiting until the 15th to see if I receive payment.

It is unfortuneate not to get some sort of response while you are waiting though. How do we know 3 weeks later that she does have our redemption request on her list?

Nah, sorry but this doesn't wear with me.

All program owners that run CC scripts have a section at the bottom of their admin that contains a link to download each current update plus details of what the updates contain. It's there for all to see so to say that she had no idea..............???

To those who complain about waiting for the timer to finish before clicking another link - well it will certainly stop you click click clickin without reading the advertisement eh. What a fantastic update.
