The Signature and Avatar Rules have now been changed and are to be found in Section 5 HERE.
The changes are effective immediately and Members that now have signatures that do not comply are requested to edit them as soon as possible.
The reason for these changes are to make the forum load better for those on a dial-up or slow connection. Many signatures and avatars contained large graphic files and these have to be downloaded each time a visitor accesses the board. Also, large signatures can detract from the actual posts made as they are dominating the view of the board. Whilst this works very well from the advertisers perspective, it does somewhat defeat the purpose of our forum. Advertising in signatures should be considered as a 'bonus' for Members and not the whole reason for being here.
The main area of change is the number of banners permitted. Members may now only have ONE banner and up to 4 lines of text OR no banner and up to 6 lines of text. Line Breaks (vertical spacing) count as one line of text.
The avatar rules incorporate a reduction in maximum file size and no remote linking.
All Members will be given the opportunity to change their signatures, if they were in line with the previous rules, for 1 MONTH from today (26th August 2009), without penalty. New Member signatures that breach ANY rules and existing signatures that are in breach of the old rules are subject to removal immediately. The amnesty will only apply to those that are within the previous rules but outside of the new ones.
