After the countless comments on ESPN about Michael Vick's return in a Philadelphia Eagles uniform and all he must do to "endear himself to the fans", I just had to find somewhere to vent!
Now, please do not get me wrong. What he did was deplorable. I do not condone cruelty to animals. But come on, people! The man spent 2 years in jail for this. Murderers don't get that much time! That's right, someone who kills a PERSON, HUMAN BEING, etc. Example: Donte Stallworth (Browns' receiver) killed a MAN, albeit, by accident, but killed nonetheless. He got 30 DAYS and a year's suspension without pay (boohoo) and I do not hear anywhere near the uproar regarding him that I hear about Vick!
Does anyone remember Ray Carruth? He was a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers who allegedly arranged for his pregnant girlfriend to be killed so he would not have to pay child support! Yes, he was found guilty and is still in jail, but no where near the uproar I am hearing about Vick.
Have dogs become more valuable than people? Kobe Bryant was accused of rape, Michael Jackson was a suspected child molester, countless priests are proven child molesters. Basically all Kobe had to do was win a couple of games and a championship and all is well in Laker land. Michael Jackson could moonwalk across the stage and belt out a tune or two and all is forgiven and forgotten. But Michael Vick must work in the community with animal rights groups "to save his soul", as I unbelievably heard a commentator say on ESPN last Friday!
Sorry, people but they were dogs! I think he has paid his debt.
Let the rants begin...

Everyone deserves a second chance, and vick will get a chance to prove it. Ofcourse what he did was wrong, but other people have done bad deeds and will get 2nd chances (look at Stallworth....30 days in jail for being drunk and killing someone). I think Vick served his time and hopefully this was a good wake up call for him. I do wish him the best and hope he can be proactive in stopping dog fighting.

Are you serious? So your belief is that Vick should die for what he did? Thank you for proving my point that many place animals above human life!
No matter how many gory pictures I see, I will NEVER believe an animal is more valuable than a human being. I have seen too many pictures and heard too many stories of what human beings do to each other.
I totally agree with teenwolf41. I wish Michael Vick all the best and hope he can put this all behind him. Although some people will try their best to never let that happen.

I totally agree with the bolded part of your post. He should also be barred from ever playing football again as well as an athlete you commits a crime. Pit Bulls are nasty dogs but they do not deserve the kind of treatment Vick and his group put them through. People who get caught doing this should do hard time as they are defenseless animals and it is totally wrong and very abusive to treat
ANY animal that way.
Vick needs to go period

I don't know this Michael guy or the story but nobody who is charged with a murder felony gets less than 20 years. Cruelty to animals is just a path leading to cruelty to humans, violence only begets more violence. Remember Jeffery Domer started out torturing and killing animals before he moved to humans.

Dahmer and most serial killers were kids when It was discovered that they were killing small animals.
You're right, you do not know about Michael Vick or this story if you are comparing it to the case of a serial killer. Are you quoting the law that is on the books, or actual cases? There are many "murderers" who have NOT received 20 year sentences. They usually plea bargain their way out of being charged with murder felonies. I know, I used to work in the Brooklyn DA's office.

I live in Atlanta, and when all that stuff started going on with the Falcons...the price of their merchandice dropped significantly in walmart! It was wild! $20 shirts were going on sale...sometimes as low as $5 a shirt! It was like an "everything must go" sale!

Everyone needs to get off their high horse. Was what he did bad, definitely, he also served his time for it. There is a problem when someone who murders another person (Donte) gets less time, and no one is near as mad.
