The idiots who create malware know about adaware and how to get by it by now.

I think I know what happened... I used to game a lot so I had my firewall off. I had to do a system restore and now with my firewall back up and running everything is going smoothly so far.

Spybot Search and Destroy coupled with Eset Antivirus and I have not had a problem since.

spybot, ad-aware, avast. back to back - spybot will do very little protecting but very good for scanning the aftermath, avast very usefull not because it can detect each attack, but because it detects the obvoius methods used to present such an attack

I have Avast Anti-Virus on at all times. Nothing else on. I run a spyware/adware scan of my computer once every 30-40 days using a few different programs: Spyware Doctor, Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D.
Make sure your pop up blocker in your browser is still turned on. If pop ups are occurring even when you don't have your browser open or even when you're away from the computer completely, you probably have some moderately bad spyware or possible a trojan of some nature. Run a few different scans. Download HiJackThis and post your scan log on their forums (don't try to mess with it yourself unless you're knowledgeable).

Honestly, spybot can shield you from attacks using its teatimer feature. Also, if Spybot is used under its advanced setting, there are a lot more options available to tweak your system, shred filed permanantly, search for BHO's etc. Most people overlook the fact that Spybot has these features.
.....Just my 2 cents.....

Hello there,
If you're using firefox(which you are:)) I can strongly reccomend installing a firefox add-on named Noscript. It prevents scripts from running when you come on sites, maybe it could help...
And if you're looking for a good tool, Spybot is nideed one of the best, and so is avast
Why are you bumping a thread that hasn't been posted in for over 6 weeks unless you are post boosting?
