Dave Chapelle told his father that if her could make as much money doing comedy as his dad did as a teacher, then he would consider himself successful.
I am a restaurant manager making about $50000/yr. What is the chance that I can be successful on line. Can website + affiliate marketing = $50K? Do I need to add MLM to the mix? Any thoughts?

It all depends on the time, energy and hard work you can put on it. if you are determined to do it then you should surpass that numer

It could... you would need to run a pretty big website though... my website is no where near 50k, only GPT I know of that does make that is the Dietzel and Dietzel networks...
Whats MLM again?

I'm not signed up on an MLM yet, I am still raising the $$ to get on board. But, I am looking into AmeriPlan as it seems to be the one I have seen with a legitimate product to sell.

So you are going to sell merchandise?

The product isn't really "merchandise". It is a health care discount program. When I get involved (if I get involved) I will be selling the "product" as well as building my downline.

Here is the best advice before you get into any type of mlm.
Make sure you use the product or service yourself and enjoy it very much. Most people who try to sell something that they don't know about or do not like will not be successful.
Also research the company; how long have they been around? who created the company and what does their past look like? does the product or service actually work? is there a testimonial page where you can see how others are doing in the business?
Good Luck,
Tim

I agree with timbo8. Research any opportunity before jumping into it. And I'd also recommend being cautious of programs/sites that try and charge an upfront fee.

Start off small and test the waters so to speak, a few of us here are involved in affiliate marketing and we have all started off, by promoting offers that a high conversion. What I came to realise long ago is that people like money and they like that money more if they can get it from home, without having to sell anything, without having to recruit. That is why this get paid to industry will always be around, people will always be looking for what is perceived as easy money.
So start off your first website, based on the get paid industry, start getting a few dollars in every month, learn how to get targeted traffic, learn how to recruit people, then start to branch out into affiliate offers for products and services, once you have a bit more knowledge.
That is my suggestion anyway, start off small and work your way up

Success for me is meeting people on forums like this and earning enough to buy junk on ebay that I would feel bad spending my "real" money on, it would take more dedication than its worth to be really rich from getpaidto... schemes.

IMO, success can not be compared by annual turnover. Success is what you feel from inside, even if you make half of the money you make than your dad.

I have to say that I believe success is the accomplishment of a goal. No matter how big or small.
