Why do WM's have email links saying "mystery links" when they are really just 0.10 cents links?

I'm a member of two specific sites, thats constantly do this (I won't name them, but they know who they are)

Why can't they just tell the truth and say these links are worth 0.10 cents?

Because they know most will just skip them!

While Carole of Mec-Op has recently been slaughtered for sending too many 0.10 cent links, at least she tells us the links value, instead of trying to dupe us into womdering what the link is for.

These two sites send emails with like 8 - 10 of these links, yet seem to avoid the stick carole has received, I wonder why?

Is it because the clickers don't even take note of what they're getting paid for the link?

Its bad enough clicking for 0.10 cents, but please WM's, at least tell us the link is only worth that!
ekelly
Agreed.

Anyone who has confidence in thier program should be upfront and unafraid to label a .1 cent link

It is that kind of trickery that makes me question a program.

If you offer cheap advertising so that people can afford to send out their links.....then why hide the value in the emails?

I am much more likely to stick with a program that has low value links if I feel that I can trust the WM.

Hello,

Is this how you feel about bonus links too? TKO sites do not send mystery links but we did send lots of bonus links (a few weeks back) varying from .10 (1/10 cent), .15 etc. But they were bonus links from the revenue we got from the search sites + some of member links.

If you want them labelled too, I can do that aa.gif

Actually, the reason I did not label them is because Richard and I are planning to send 1 cent links too in between bonus links. We are not trying to trick any member, but we thought if we lable them, then members will not click on the low value links, but only on 1/4 cent and above links aa.gif Is this wrong? If so, I am sorry ah.gif
Brianlfc
Yep, we want them LABELLED ac.gif

No honestly Dil, I would prefer WM's to label how much a link is, rather than just putting "mystery" as if it a random email value.

Bonus, can be guessed that they're only going to be low-paying, if you get my drift?

Yes, you should be totally ashamed of yourself.

Go in the corner and put your hands on your head ad.gif ad.gif ad.gif

Ok, I get your point regarding users just clicking the higher paying links, but I just had to say something (because I'm a moaner, lol) as I'm fed up with seeing "mystery link".

Oh shut up Brian

Ok

Upon thinking about this more I have a question.

If the low value links get such a poor response, then why make them available?
I mean, as soon as a member opens it and sees the value...if they don't want to wait for 1/10th of a cent they will close the window anyway right?

There are some who will wait, and some who won't.
What's the harm in labeling it?
ekelly
Uh oh....poor Brian is talkin' to himself again LOL!

I'm wracking my brain now, because I know there is a site that actually does vary the amounts of their "mystery links," and they're not all low values; I recall them ranging from .01 to one cent, and there were about six in one email. Once I hit that one-center, I made sure I clicked all, which I probably wouldn't have done if they'd all been cheapies. Can't for the life of me think of which program it was, though - lol.

I always thought that that was the whole point of mystery links - if they're all the same value, what's the mystery? ar.gif

Well, since most programs send a revisit link in the email along with the paid link, I always thought MYSTERY meant that the site you will be taken to is a mystery.
Notice how the mystery links don't have a revisit link?

Actually Linda, one of the sites I'm on about used to do that very thing, lol...but not anymore am.gif they're always 0.10 cent!

But it has changed owners twice since then and seemed to stop.

Its probs the same site I'm on about and yes they used to vary from something like .20 cent to 2 cents.

If this is the same site I think you are talking about...there were a few 5 cent ones in those mystery links also. ad.gif

I am guilty of not lableing quick links as I call them

however......I do put the total of the links below and they vary anywhere from .10 to 1 Cent or 1 point......

However I do not put timers as I dont think thats fair

So if there are 10 quick links

Value of 1.45 Cents and 6 Points

with the links listed above.

some people like them...some dont.....but with any link......you control your clicky finger on what you chose to click or not click

Hey a mystery link is exactly that, a mystery. Both in where it takes you and it's value.

If a WM marks the value of all links, then the person is just going to click the highest one and leave the lower paying one.

Yep, but when every single one is 0.10 cents, even when there are no higher paying links in the email, why not label them?

As EKelly has already said, if the WM is sending 0.10 cent links out and thinks people will ignore them, then why make them available?

PS, Dana, its none of your sites I'm on about aa.gif as you say, you let us know how much the email is worth!

I don't care, click them all. Got to add up. Long as they're not all very low, then I get perturbed 'cause I'll never reach payout! ae.gif

I hope that I am not too late to respond to this thread. I, will click on any link, no matter the value as long as it isn't a search...I hate searches!!! Beware, if you don't tell me where I am going and end up at a search for 1/10th of a cent I won't do it!!! I mean, come on, 1/10th of a cent for something I absolutely hate...I don't think so! Most of the time I don't do searches for 1 cent. So, my advise to those of you that are gptr owners, if you send out "mystery links", don't send searches!

You won't do a search for 1 cent, yet you'll happily click on 1/10th cent links aj.gif

Wow, I myself hate searching, but I'd rather sit here all day doing one cent searches, than clicking 1/10th of a cent links with 20 second timers ah.gif

Oh well, each and everyone to their own I guess ad.gif

Well, I label my 1/10 cent links AND my search links. I hated clicking on a search link, not wanting to do one, and feeling obligated.

As far as the cheap links, I label them so you know what you are getting aa.gif

LOL Dana, there's a nice little complaint thread here about "unlabeled searches". Quite a few folks, while we all love ya dearly...go grrrrrrrr when we see those quick links. ae.gif

Simple fact is not all of us enjoy searches, but will do them if we have time, or for a few of the webbies or advertisers we enjoy. If you'd just break out those searches from the rest, like stick em below and just label them separate, it would be ever so much appreciated. Lots of webbies have agreed that it's sound to do so and have done so.

Don't get me wrong, please. I don't mind the searches (as do others) if we KNOW they are. Then we can make our own choice as to click or not. Just a preference issue. Nuttin' personal. ae.gif

Back to topic, mystery links are dandy when you're reaching payout ad.gif but errrrrr no offense they tend to kinda irritate when the whole email is loaded with them. ae.gif
Brian11007
click4cash does that... i hate it! it is just a cheap way for owners to rip you off... thats what i think anyways.
Susy
Well, hon, I don't think ALL webbies are like that. I know there are many who are doing their best to stay in business and needs some help, and deserve it. Just not all of them ae.gif

Sadly, though, there's been so many bad happenings in the industry, I don't know. I guess you're dam*ed if ya do, dam*ed if ya don't. ao.gif ah.gif ar.gif

I LOVE the bonus links you've sent! Those I don't care whether or not you label. You two have been kicking hinder since his return. PLEASE don't fix what ain't broke!

I believe I know which programs Brian is talking about, and if I'm understanding him right, it's not the same issue at all. The webmaster from one of the sites warned us recently that if we click on the link and don't search our accounts will be deleted. It's sort of a doublebind. If there is no label, and no timer, we don't have the opportunity to back out of it.

Though, there has been a slight change since the warning. The ones we were warned about are put towards the bottom of the email, still unlabeled and still mixed in with nonsearches lmao

Don't be sorry, you guys are doing awesome! The turn-around at your sites is so amazing since you officially came onboard.

Hi,

For the bonus-links, I don't mind, they're just that ..bonus links ac.gif

Mistery links called that way when they're in fact just cheap links .. I don't click on them anymore ... ac.gif

And Mistery links with different values have something that bothers me a bit ..last time I wanted to buy a mystery link as an advertiser but then ... didn't know how much it would be worth for the members clicking on it ... didn't know if I bought a 1/10 cent link or a 1/4 link ... well, ended up buying somewhere else .... ac.gif

For me Mistery links are links where you don't know where you'll be directed, not links you dont know how much they're worth before clicking and certainly not links not labelled as searches ... but well, maybe that's only me not clicking without knowing how much each click is worth ....
