Is Ron okay? Hope he is?

CPU fan went out on me last Sunday and I just got my puter out of the shop. Problem is that when they were changing that, I opted for an upgrade. The good news is I now have a screaming machine with a 5.2GB CPU, 2 GB memory, ½ GB video card and a 465 MB hard drive. The bad news is that they removed the backup drive that had everything on it I need to reinstall everything claiming it was moved to the new drive which it was not. So now, I get to reinstall everything that I can remember was on here and that will take a few days. I'll be taking this back in to them on Monday so they can reinstall the D drive and I can get everything done then. Until such time, I am very limited as to what I can do which is pretty much nothing at all due to one of the programs I lost was RoboForm which had all my passwords on it.

Other than that, all is peachy and I hope alla y'all are having a much better day than I.

Thank heavens it was just the fan! I know I felt like it might be something more! Glad your back! Did you know you can select print from the RoboForm menu and then save it to a back-up file? I'm still reading the tutorial, learning my way around with RoboForm. When I had trouble I emailed them and they were very helpful! I love it I keep everything in there! Well worth the price to buy! Any way! LOL! Glad you are well! bk.gif

Lucky you (5.2GB CPU, 2 GB memory, ½ GB video card and a 465 MB hard drive)!

I am glad you are ok. I was just about to decide whether to call you or try to find your full address to write to you. You had us worried, OpaBear. Anyway, glad you are ok and sounds like you will be very happy with your souped up machine. Lydia

My mistake. Make that a 465 GB hard drive. It was supposed to be a half TB but this was all I got (along with a naked puter with none of my programs on it)

Still way cool, sounds awesome! LOL! I love computers! bb.gif

Opa Bear you had me so worried. I wasn't sure if it was you, the weather affecting your phone line or health problems.

Thankfully we have an external hard disk and I have all my passwords written down in a book.

So having had to reformat the main computer putting stuff back was not too hard but I really do need MS Word and I might need MS Works at some time in the future. They are not where they should be and nor are they with other computer stuff. So where has my husband put them? You know the man who knows where he puts thing and says I am the disorganised one!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ron,

Welcome back! Sorry to hear of the inconvenience with your computer.

Welcome back, OpaBear.

Glad you are in good health. And with a new shining computer. It may take some time to tame it, but is worth doing.

Cheers,
Papy

What's the update with Ron's computer?

So it could well be the shop still has it. They seemed pretty slow last time. At least we know our Opa Bear is OK.
dbanners
Alright, hope Ron's computer would be up sometime soon.
dbanners
Is Ron's computer back up yet or what?
blythburgh
Don't think so. I am sure when it is he will be hot footing here to the forum.
dbanners
Alright, I kinda hope it'll be up soon. This way the ads will start getting processed again.

He'll let us know when he's back. bb.gif

Do not worry, this is only a blip caused by Ron's computer problems. He had to take the machine into the repair shop. Everything was backed up on a second drive in the computer. Ron decided as it had to go into the repair shop it should get a big upgrade. Ron insists they did not re-install the stuff on the second drive although the shop said they had. So Ron had to take the machine back to the repair shop. And once again they are working at a snails pace to get it back to him.

The hosting fees are paid in advance and as Ron has no computer access he has not been able to pay them. As soon as Ron gets online he will pay the hosting fees and Tesas will be back in business and the backlog of ads will be sorted out.

Do not worry, Tesas is not going anywhere. It is only a blip caused by the computer repair shop.

Thanks

I am not worried, i simply tought it was a different problem.

Have a good day
RonCheneler
Finally got things sorta back to working. Now, I have a couple hundred ads to process, the hosting was paid a few minutes ago and the site is back up. There's a ton of emails heading y'all's way with many more to follow. I couldn't do anything about the emails all getting sent at once due to me forgetting to keep the site at least a month ahead with hosting.

Email accounts still aren't working for me yet but I hope to have that fixed and the IMs turned back on ASAIC.

I'll be doing the masspay as soon as my emails are flowing again.

It is obvious that Ron has a huge backlog of emails and ads etc to deal with. Answering questions like this will merely delay Ron so please be patient and he will do all the ads in the order they came in.

It is obvious that Ron has a huge backlog of emails and ads etc to deal with. Answering questions like this will merely delay Ron so please be patient and he will do all the ads in the order they came in.

That with due respect to the camaraderie at Tesas', however take it a little easy blythburgh. Sometime you are a little too quick to be a little defensive when a member simply ask "has the ads been processed yet" or something to that sort. Don't just always see things from the po's point 100% all of the time, instead maybe sometime occassionally see things from the member's. And to also cut them a little slack sometime.

I'm still waiting for the ads submitted on 1/25 to be processed. How's that for being a little patient? I know you've stated to keep submitting the upgraded ads, this way they won't go to waste. But I rather give Ron a chance to catch up on the ones already submitted before submitting more of them.

Also, it's one thing for the maintenance to be a little behind cause of the owner's health, that would be more understanding and tolerable. But it's another for it to occur cause of computer problems. And in fairness to the members, particularly upgraded members that has paid for their services (i.e. not all upgraded members simply reached their upgraded status by exchanging points or earnings or whatever it is, some just came right out and paid for the upgrade straightforward), this is not the first time the owner's had computer problems for some time.

Also, didn't you state in the other post, that supposedly the owner made a mistake not doing certain things to his computer or whatever that was. Like it was okay for you to make that comment. Then for you to turn around a be a little quick to be a little defensive when a member simply ask "has the ads been processed yet?".

Lastly, FYI, I purchased the Mama/Papa membership for $400 back in July 2007. Did you spend that much on a Tesas' membership...? I didn't think so either. Although in fairness to you, you probably didn't know that about me either. So, not only have I done my share of clicks, done my share of submitting the ads, done my share of posts in the Tesas' forum in GPF along with some other Tesas' membership related activities, but also that, unlike many free members that only click to take something out of the program without putting anything in, not even once, yep, not even once did I request a penny from the program. How's that for being a good team member? Although in fairness to you, you probably also didn't know that about me either.

Thus I'm entitled to make a "has the ads been processed yet" comment or two, ok? ac.gif

Sorry about that Ron. But I just feel that blythburgh does it to me too often. And felt a little compelled to speak up a little after she was doing it to me on a continious basis.
blythburgh
I was not picking on you or anyone else. And it is easy to be wise with hindsight. Ron is on a limited income and made the decision to back up on the one computer. An external hard drive would have been a wiser but far more expensive option.

My comments were common sense imho. Ron could spend time checking to see if he had done member X and Y and Z's ads and tell them by email, pm or on the forum yes or no. Or he could spend that time actually sending out ads.

I have no idea quite what Ron is doing, I haven't used up his precious time chatting to him.

And I have a husband who is quite ill at the moment and although I live in England my whole family live in Australia. Maybe you haven't seen the news but they are having really bad bush fires out there right now. Well over 100 dead. My neice and her fiance are building a new house, he was there working on it when he had to flee for his life. The houses on the other side of the road had caught fire. Thankfully their house is safe for now. A nephew has taken his two young children to his parents as he felt they would be safer as they live in a larger town. My sister is doing voluntary work helping out the survivors of the fire. The temperature has reached 117 degrees Fahrenheit. Heat like that can kill.

So I am too busy worrying about my husband and my family to get into arguments with you. No offence meant but my nerves are stretched to breaking point, I am sleeping badly and I simply do not need arguments with any member of Tesas especially one as loyal and supportive as you.

dbanners
No problem blythburgh. Perhaps, I pick a bad time to bring up a point. Sometime it's good to have a constructive discussion. I meant well and sorry about that.

We all feel a bit pressured sometime. Sorry to hear about your hubby and hope he feels better soon. Yes, I heard about the fires and hope your family doesn't get too affected as well. And also hope they put out the fires soon.

Again, my apologies. And my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I used to be forum mod in the bad old days when Peter had taken over Misty and Sams Cash (new owners now no debt so a site to join - google for the link). I know the difference between a troublemaker (plenty of them on that forum) and a decent, supportive member like you. And I realise decent, supportive members can have a denuine grievance.

And no, my husband will not recover, all we can hope for is he can things under control again. He has ME which has flaired up again for no apparent reason and Lumber Spondylitis (an extremely painful back condition) which he has aggravated.

Thanks for the prayers, thankfully my family are OK but for many people it is an unknown outcome or the fact that their family or friends have definitely perished. So very sad.

Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way blythburgh, hope all gets sorted out for you and yours!

Thanks for the reminder but the site and my personal domain are on autorenew so we're covered.

Speaking of which, when the domain renews, the site will have been in operation 5 years. My anniversary of running/ruining the site is 29 days later.

Hi Ron

please verify the timer for email ads.

I have many email ads running for 29 points US/CAN/UK and i noticed that the % of valid clicks on PTP is around 60% for the last 2 weeks or so. Before, it was above 85%.

I think that the timer is not set to 24 hours, but rather to 22 or 23 hours or maybee less.

Please verify

OK thanks for your input.

There may be another reason, anyway results are not bad.

I am glad you are getting good results from your ads. Remember if you buy points from other members it is a win win situation. The points seller gets cash, and that encourages people to click on the point ads as they know they can sell the points. And it is a lot cheaper to buy the points and use them to advertise than to buy the ad for cash off Ron.

So buying points supports other members, supports the site and the advertisers, and helps Ron to have a successful site. And you save money on your ad. All winners and no losers.

You are right.

I dont cashout anymore for quite some time now.

All my cash is going to buy points.

I was considering tranferring cash from either Paypal or Alertpay, but i noticed a penalty for doing so.

BTW i am doing a lot of clicking myself and i am in the top 10 for some months now.

It's not so much a penalty as it is a fee to pay the fees PP charges me plus 20¢ and 2% to help pay for the plugin. Once the plugin is paid for, the fees will drop.
