Went to Best Buy this morning to buy me a new cell phone (had my 5 year old nephew with me). Went to pay they had way to cash registers blocked off. So I went to where signs said checkout. Some guy said you need to pay over here. I not listing to that I can read sign had checkout where register were saw the tons returning stuff at customer service I not going to wait there. They saw it my way and someone checked me out. The pluses to be treated like moran and to my always acting like one. I was in no mood to be treated like I knew nothing I can read have two college degrees. Shopping with nephew is awful but I always get stuck doing it when he out of school.

So why have sign saying checkout if want you to do it at customer service?

Yes, if you get out of their pre-defined customer service paradigm (onto the "duh" gray areas) then they do have a way of individually making things up until things go awry. Remember that these are usually kids just out of college that don't know what they want for dinner much less what they want to tell you as the "official dogma of BestBuy" for fear of their quick banishment from the land of BestBuy best practices (they haven't studied up on enough.) Chances are that if you take the extra steps to bump it up a notch (to the land of reality) or two you will see the grace that BestBuy corporate had in mind originally ac.gif

One more thing... the whole electronics superstore business model is on the line now that CircuitCity threw in their cards... I , myself used to work for a local mom & pop computer store though I don't see much future in that anymore... I guess, us techies, must band together behind the last stand we see happening which is, in my opinion, the BestBuys (and Fry electronics, TigerDirect's) of the world - forget RadioShack - to long too far - too long gone. Out of touch and over priced.

Our first computer in 1988 was Tandy bought at Radio Shack. No hard drive. Went to one three times past week. Would never buy computer there. Did get awesome deal on last one of there 4 Gb flash drives. They had 40 batteries for $10. any thing over 2 digits not about to buy there.

The monkey that rang up my order asked for my best buy rewards card yet did not scan it. I entered some code in there site in few days should show.

The $35-40 in gift cards have comming should amke up for this have filling nephew will use them.

Hate Best Buy tons of stuff in ales just like walmart impossible to guide a buggy in the store. The cashout area is hard to find starting to thank the morons were ones who planned the store I went to. I only shop there as CircuitCity close. No way buying at wal-mart. Office Depot and Staples over charge. I do not shop for love of place its for the price.

2nd and 3rd computer from mom and pop place not trying that again. My dell bought from ebay was not good idea so I left with Best Buy. I have 4 working computers in my room alone. There is 9 total computers in the house. The Tandy still works and is used daily playing 30 year old game.

I will never buy a computer or other big ticket item at Best Buy, I made the mistake of buying our very first computer there. It crashed several times - problems with the computer not anything we did - customer service was terrible, they never had it fixed when they said they would. In fact one time it didn't even make it to the repair center until the very day they promised me it would be back at the store. They never would honer the warranty agreement and give me a new computer. I finally replaced it out of my own pocket and swore never to do business with Best Buy again.

I had problem with my laptop I bought from them as well. It is a Toshiba Satellite. Had to have it serviced already, less then 2 yrs. old. Had the Geek Squad come to the house to look at it. The guy had no idea what the heck he was doing. Finally after setting up another appt with them to get it fixed it is fine. Cost me over $180.00 too. av.gif I called Geek Squad customer service. They are such rude people. They told me I would be charged again for them coming out. bj.gif I told them that they messed it up, they fix it for free, period. af.gif

They did not like that reply and forwarded me to the head manager at the local Best Buy. He was such an ass, with I major attitude and treated me like I was stupid cause I did not know what was wrong with my laptop after they were suppose to fix it.

I only use them cause of Circuit City being gone. I would not recommend Best Buy to my worst enemy, well maybe I would. ad.gif

This is why I now have my computer custom built, no pre-packaged system. I refuse to go places that treat me like crap and overcharge me for services that I can have done better at a small ma' and pa' operation. I have worked in Customer Service for years, and I go to a store and the employees have to put up with me because I expect to have excellent service. I usually end up having to put them in their place, but I always get what I want.
