I am looking for a site that offers free webpages...I want to start promoting the programmes I am a member of...Can anyone help?

how easy is it to build a website on say freewebs.com? I will try to do a decent page not some state-of-the- art one.

btw I 've got no idea of html or scripts etc...was thinking of using sth like frontpage but on freewebs i cant...

Try Bravepages.com. Its great if u have no idea of html..... You can choose many different templates, backgrounds, insert pictures (uploading from your comp or net)..... Its great.

Yes, and netfirms.com has easy-to-use templates, too. Also www. topcities.com is an excellent place for beginners with templates and web-based file management that means you don't have to know how to use FTP to get your files on thier server.

vasilis13! there are many choices for you. Most of the free web sites put their advertisements on your web pages. .. anyway...

Geocities Http://www.Geocities.com .. this has one of the most friendly file managers available for beginners.. now i don't know U r a beginner or...

Freeservers Http://www.Freeservers.com ... I am using it for more than 4 years... It is one of the best free web space providers... they used to give away 20mb.. but now they offer 12mb.... that is enough for a normal site...

Someone mentioned Bravepages too... its good.. but in my experience... its slow... I don't know the exact reason... but for me its always slow..

One more thing... you can also use short URLs from sites like CJB.net...
For example if you get your free space from Geocities... your URL will be something like http://www.geocities.com/vasilis13 .... then you can go to Http://www.CJB.net and signup for a free short URL ... and get vasilis.cjb.net ... or any choice you like.. it will forward this URL to your actual space........... and will be easy to remember........

Also if u have .com domain, u can use freewebs free hosting with it. Just change the DNS

Yeah... Qadeer! I checked these two... Nice to see that these companies do not put any advertisements. Someone already mentioned too.. but I am doing it again.........
Http://www.Brinkster.com is also providing 30Mb webspace with no ads....... and the best thing is that you can also test ASP code there......... well not just test........ you can successfully run it there.......... (btw.. with limited features).

Will all the sites that yall have mentioned allow me to use a direct link from a jpeg or gif?(so that I can use the jpeg or gif in my avatar on this forum)

Or do they just let you link to your free webpage itself?

I guess what i'm trying to say is.....I need a place to host some of my pics and stuff that will allow me to link to one certain item and not the entire page itself.

Rubypickle, I use my space at Bravenet all the time for banner ads. I know with Tripod you get the 'image hosted by Tripod' message but I have not had any problems with Bravenet at all in that regard.

if you just want a simple single page site http://www.expage.com/index_basic.htm cannot be beaten it is simple easy to use (a bit limeted) but generally great for a first time builder.

tripod has frontpage 2002 abilties and it is freen and yes sadly it has a banner and one pop up i used frontpage 2002 to make a site for my friend it si simple nothing fancey but still nice, one thing with geocities,tripod angelfire most all free hosting sites if you send alot of visitors within a a set time frame your site gets disabile for banwidth over usage for an hour thats what i have seen though don't know what all you other people have seen
i use homestead from my host currenty not free though ...still looking for a good host that doesn't cost to much and has a fair amout of bandwidth and frontpage extentions would go with an up graded tripod accunt but i think you only get 10 gb of bandwith or so when you upgrade if i remember correctly dreamwater is good too but they charge a 5 dollar fee because people didn't use there accounts i just looked at it the 5 dollars is refudabile but for 6.50 no ads and hotlinking too
