Hey guys, I haven't been able to use my internet all day, I keep getting this box that pops up with a error message and it gives me 2 options, either I send the error to microsoft or I close it without sending it to microsoft. Either way, it closes my Microsoft Internet Explorer and when I try to open it up again, I get the same box and error. I've tried restarting and troubleshooting but to no avail. I have windows 98 and cable modem. Thanks.

if you get the error reporting box means you have a problem somewhere, especially if it persists.

Try to repair your IE first by going to add/remove in the control panel.
Click on microsoft internet explorer and select remove. this wil bring up a box in which you can select several things. Select "repair internet explorer"
Once it is done you wil have to reboot.

If that does not work then it might be a corupted system file.
Click on start, select run.
type in sfc
This wil bring up the system file checker.
make sure you have your windows disk in the cd drive and go though sfc. it wil check for corrupted files.

Also make sure that you have the latest updates. Sometimes if a new update gets put in it wil resolve some of the problems a pc might have.

hope this helps.

That reminds me when I was working in the computer industry all those years back when Windows 95 first came out. Kept getting a Kernel dll error, you might have seen it sometimes when it crashes. I contacted M$ and got told by them that that file did NOT exist within Win95, they wanted to charge me for the call and I told them if they say it doesnt exist then how come it says it right on the screen and I wouldnt pay. They finally caved in when 5 other computer retailers were saying the same thing was happening, and all it ended up happening was it conflicting with a video card driver. ad.gif

Then there is the time when M$ said that Win95 and Win3.11 couldnt be networked, but that's another story ac.gif
