Hi
my computer has been going very slow recently. i have used a couple of different virus and anti-spyware scanners but none have picked up anything
i still have around 30gb of hard drive space left and over 1gb of ram, so i dont see what the problem could be?

Is your PC's activity light always busy even when you are doing nothing? What about the fan noise?

defragment your files, clean up your internet files and cookies, have yor tried Ad aware? thats the best, also AntVir is handy. You could also try a system restore if the problem is recent.
