Hey,
I opened a few new sites recently so I'm sending a lot of traffic through Auto Surf programs. Unfortunately I live in South Africa so bandwidth is very expensive, how can I save some band. when I leave the auto surfer on??
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Hm. Do you mean you have hosted your website on some SA webhost?
nope, I only have a 3gig cap every month on my internet account, so I lose a big portion of my cap when viewing a lot of websites with the auto surf viewer.
Oh, I understand now. That kinda sucks. Try to disable images on you browser and then autosurf may be? That would save some bandwidth.
yes I think that could work, thanks. Any programs that saves bandwidth? :-)
lol. No. Another thing you can do is to install a firewall like zonealarm, because sometimes some programs in the background (like download accelerators) connects to the Internet to download updates, etc without your knowledge, and use your bandwidth. With your firewall, you would know which program was trying to access the Internet, and you could deny it the access.
I don't mind losing band. to updates etc, I'll have to do them anyway, eventually, auto surf is different, but it seems to be making me some money.

Get a host with a data center that is somewhere less expensive.
I have never heard of a host in South Africa - but given the state of Telecoms networks in Africa I'm not surprised that the costs are very high.

You can also install dns server on your computer and cache all DNS queries.
Expand memory cache in your browser as well.
