I want to know that WHY don't the script makers add all those upgrades in them which other people like IAN do later on??
I mean... like everyone knows that SMART SEARCH script has some flaws rather drawbacks in it ... so why don't they improve it themselves?? so that we do not need to buy upgrades.......?

Can anyone answer me WHY do they do it??? and is there a solution to it?
Ian
You're looking at it from the wrong perspective.

There is nothing wrong with the SmartSearch scripts (aside from 1 bug).

They are absolutely perfect for what they were designed to do and they do it better than all of the other script packages out there under $1000.

This includes the newer script packages (most of them written in PHP) that have come out which have a lot of the features you're talking about but are so inefficient that you can't run a successful search engine with them.

I am just asking, why don't they upgrade their scripts... ofcourse there is nothing wrong... but there are lots of things to be improved.... like the upgrades you (ian) do.... smartsearch should upgrade their scripts themselves ......
i know there are more expensive as well as less expensive scripts in the market.... but then.. smartsearch is the one which is i think most commonly used.... they are earning so much money.... why don't they make it more attractive by introducing these upgrades.... (btw.. without increasing the cost aa.gif )

What I'm responding to, basically, is the subject of your post. There is no weakness. SmartSearch is selling their scripts for an incredibly reasonable price.

It's not that they don't realize that there aren't other options the scripts could have, it's just not part of their goal to provide everything everyone wants.

They expect people who want other options to get them done custom, they even suggest this on their site.

You see? They are providing the framework, at a price they know will sell a lot of scripts quickly. After that, it's up to the webmasters to create their websites the way they want them.
