Don't upgrade your Avg to 8.0. It is really slow down your pc.

I dump Avg 8.0 switch to Avast. It is hard to leave as a member Avg for 2 Years.

What do you think?

I agree, my PC has slowed down and I currently have 190 infections, at the beginning of last week it was over 400!, which are ALL false positives, I emailed them about IT last monday and spent all of last week trying to fix it and not going online for fear of infecting somebody/somewhere else, only to be told yesterday that they were false positives and that they are aware of it, and it will be fixed in the next major update!

There are quite a few sites that will not load, take forever to load or freeze up altogether, I am also looking for alternatives for when the subscription expires and seriously considering removing it early and going elsewhere for protection.

For anybody considering buying AVG at the moment, my advice would be to go elsewhere.

I think you should installed Avast a Free Version. It is so far running on my ok.

Just to clarify, these are not infections, the are false positives, it is recognizing certain aspects of Spybot as malware in my PC's registry, AVG are aware of this and I have also had my PC checked indipendantly to verify this.

I am only holding out to the promised update, if any issues remain after that or my PC is still slow online I'll be dumping it and going elsewhere, I have a lot of protection on my PC but even so, I think it's still wise to have a subscription package aswell. I am currently researching other options to find one that is good, and dosen't have issues with other packages.

I purchased a two year license which still has another six months to run but I'll drop it if the next update doesn't sort these problems out.

I ran into a similar problem with ZoneAlarm when they "upgraded" to version 7. Nothing but trouble and bugs. That's when I went back to NOD32 for my Anti-virus, which also is a much smaller footprint on your computer, and using Comodo 3 for my firewall. Not one single problem since. As someone who runs his own computer repair/upgrade business, these are the only ones I currently recommend to my clients. ax.gif

Are you kidding? I had to scrap this tool when it went into version six or something. I now use a completely free one called avast. Good luck.

I don't have any problem with AVG free 8 except having some issue during installation but then was eventually solved. I don't find it slow down my pc and it scan much faster than its previous version ;p Yes there're some false positive but they're listed as warnings (not threat) together with those tracking cookies so you really don't have to bother too much about it.
