I use Firefox browser now and have for some time. The problem I am having is I joined a legit site yesterday and it was loaded with Trojans. az.gif I left the site immmediately upon doing the scans. I have run Avast and AVG along with Windows Defender and everything is coming up clean finally.

The problem since getting them all is that everytime I click anywhere IE hijacks my computer and loads a pop up spam on my system. I do not even have IE anymore and have gotten rid of it completely when I got Firefox. I can not seem to get rid of this from happening. bj.gif I have my pop-up blocker on as well too.

I keep getting the page for SmacChat-NBA-Microsoft and SmashHits.com

Have you tried hijackthis??

If not... download it here...

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5554.html

Run it and save a log file.

Copy that log file when it pops up and paste it here...

http://www.hijackthis.de

Then click analyze. Go through the stuff that it says is bad to see if you can find the culprit.

other necessary programs

Spybot S&D

Spyware blaster

Lavasoft Ad-aware

sometimes spybot and or ad-aware catch things that avg doesn't.

Spyware blaster simply blocks sites that cause problems like that

yuk... that's one good thing about the new IE 7. It doesn't let you download ANYTHING really, unless you've clicked a link. It's rare that i see something trying to download.

hijackthis really help and you can paste the log in the following forum. There're helpful & resourceful members who can help you step by step. I got rid some nasty spyware with their help previously.

Thanks suu for the info. I have taken everyone's advice and now have hijackthis and a few others as well. They are great and the support is excellent. As of this post I am having no more issues with the computer and am very careful now what sites and ads I will click on too. ae.gif
