my account was hacked yesterday evening

i usually use two different password, one for online payment systems and the other for get paid programs

the hacker logged in to my e-mail account with the password he collected from some other get paid websites

and then he asked for a forgotten password from Stormpay.com, which was the same with my e-gold account's password (note: stormpay.com doesn't require you to provide any secret question's answer to retrieve your password)

when i logged back into my email, what i saw was only an e-mail from stormpay which had been already read by someone else!

i tried to rush to my e-gold account, but everything was gone am.gif am.gif am.gif am.gif am.gif

o my gosh! that's terrible. I hope stormpay and egold can find the hacker and replace your money back to you.
zhiyangg
I don't think egold will replace any lost money.
aurora
and i need those money to pay my members ah.gif

well...guess that i'll have to sell my site to someone that can pay the debts....

all the hard work gone
davidbugs
I think next time change your password weekly. Plus the hacker would not be able figure out your password. I think you need make your password really difficulutfy with character with upper case and lower case. I think you need have at least over 15 characters password.
Positive_thougths
Poor you ah.gif

Best thing is to have a different password for every single program/e-gold etc you are a member of. It takes time and it might be wise to write them down if you have many. (to ask for sending your password everytime costs imho more time than writing them down once, eventually most passwords you'll know by heart).

Hope you'll get your money back and also the accounts if you lost any.

aurora
at least the hacker didnt change the password of my e-gold account

i need to find a job or help others write some scripts(.asp or flash) to pay off my debts

where should i post it?
davidbugs
Hey auro change your password on e-gold. Make it really hard then the hacker would not figure out your password again. For example password catsKTS_sx. I think the hacker will have hard to remember the password plus they have to remember the lower cases and upper case letter.

Some people really suck! Sorry that happened to you! ah.gif

I could use some help with my traffic script - something went a little wonky and I have no idea what caused it or how to fix it. Maybe you can help?

You should still NOT use same password for online payment systems... hackers can still hack into weaker online payment systems. I find it wierd u use same password for getpaid programs & your email account. To tell you the truth I dont even remember my Stormpay password as I seldom login... I always try 1 by 1 guessing LoL. Even myself not sure, the hacker will even have a harder time than me.

So how much did the hacker stolen from you?

$50 from netpay
$12.50 from stormpay

Take it as a lesson learnt then... fortunately it is not alot at around US$220.

Compared to mind, thats very little. I didn't get hacked but I lost US$3100 to PayPal locking 1 premier & 1 personal accounts of mind last November 2002. Until today my funds are still stuck there.

Today I made a mistake paying $36.50 E-Gold as 36.50 grams of gold as well, fortunately my client is honest, refunded me & I paid him again. 36.50 grams of gold was approximately US$427.

That reminds all of us, we must all be very careful when dealing with $!

By the way if you show us the screenshot of the transaction of hacker sending your e-gold funds to his e-gold account. We might be able to help, better than nothing.

I have a site problem that needs to be fixed.
This is a tricky one, though, and I'm having a great deal of trouble finding someone with the skill to fix it whom I can afford.
Please pm me, just in case you can do it.

yes, compare to yours it's just a small amount

but those cash are from my members, i had been working hard for the last few months to start the site and now, everything is gone

I might even have to sell the site that i worked so hard with to pay my members

it's very frustrating, everything goes wrong in one night. it is a great site, i'll never want to give up on it but, what else can i do?

DearDorothy
Oh how terrible! I am so sorry for you. ah.gif I hope they can catch whomever it is.

I too have different passwords for most of my accounts. Have to write them all down to keep track of them. Thank goodness I only belong to a dozen or so.
FamilyAffair
These hackers immediately tried my e-gold account unsuccessfully.

aurelieemail is not my program

mine is an e-gold tournament game site, you can find it in my signature

i'm trying every way to earn back the money, if i cant get back enough money to pay my members, i will have to sell the site

so far, i still need around $50 to clear out all the payments, i can provide my phone number and home address if it's neccesary

i'll pay it back as soon as the site is up running as normal

aurora
he was the guy that sold me the prizo.com original script on ebay ao.gif

maybe he had the full access to my current ftp site that's why he can get my password

i'm from malaysia, that guy said he was from malaysia too, i even got his mobile-phone number
FamilyAffair
Then call him & demand the money stolen to be returned back to you. Since same country as you, it will be very easy for him to be prosecuted.
aurora
i phoned that number but it says no such line or something -_-

if the hacker had hacked into my account for a cyber cafe, how can we get him?

there are more than 10++ cyber cafe around my area, about 1000++ in JB alone, how can i track him down?
FamilyAffair
How do you know it is from a cybercafe?
Don't you have to sign in before can use the computer?

I think you have to ask for the IP address from the mod/admin yourself since this is your own problem. The rest of us can only give you advise.
aurora
that's why i say "what if"

tracking now, trying to get more details about the owner of that handphone number

hopefully i can get his ip address so i can report it to the isp
aurora
oh well

everything is too late

i cant get back the money to pay my members

the site is now for sale in the advertising folder

sigh, maybe better luck next time
Miki
I am so sorry this happened to you.

Why cant hackers get a REAL job and leave our hard earned money alone! Some of us really depend on the extra income especially when we have a kids to raise, this helps so much with the extras like gas, food, sports, school extras ect. This upsets me to no end am.gif am.gif am.gif am.gif

Everyone will have a setback at times, I think selling site just because of $220 isn't worth it if you earn a reasonable amount money from the site monthly.

I don't know how much you will earn monthly if your money not stolen. If it is me, I will not sell it, maybe fork out some of the money myself & ask others for help.
anneonline
Hey Aurora,

Yes, it is surely a severe setback to have lost your money.
But I think you are acting too quickly by selling your site.

You are feeling depressed now because of the hack, but maybe in some days when you can take a look at everything with more distance, you will be sorry you sold a site in which you invested so much energy??
aurora
i don't have a chance, i tried everything i could:

1. Offering host server + script design + web design etc
2. Create flash games for other's website
3. Buy e-gold using my credit card (declined, seems that my bank does not like me to purchase e-currency)
4. Begging others to lend me money (and I swear I'll never do that in my entire life ever again)

It's just too hard for people to help out a stranger, there's nothing I could do

i have sold the site for $75, and most of the $75 has to be used to clear the old withdrawals and balance of my members. The most i'll get back in my e-gold account will be around $10~$15.
FamilyAffair
I know someone in Malaysia who will sell e-Gold to you at 4.5% fee paying him by local Malaysia bank transfer, however you didn't ask me you want to buy e-Gold. It just takes 1 working day to receive your gold.

Since you sold it, too late now.
aurora
argrgrgrg

btw, is $75 really too cheap?

just curious
FamilyAffair
Your site is unique & fun alot of stuff... $75 is definitely cheap. The guy who bought it at $75 is very lucky. Could also use it to promote own programs. ab.gif

FamilyAffair
No but I will probably buy it for $75 as well. I like the site. ab.gif

"the lucky guy" told me not to tell anyone about his username because he wanted to give all of you a big surprize lol

he's one of the senior members around here

I just hope that everybody who play would be a winner. ab.gif
aurora
i was still working on the admin section of the site, if anyone can pay more than $75 please send me a PM and i'll be much appreciated

but i'm afraid no one will buy the site if the price is higher than $75

hmmm

let's see
FamilyAffair
Hmm $75.01? Have you fixed the redemption problem where it says too low when I try to redemn?

Too bad you don't accept PayPal.
aurora
yea too bad

paypal does not accept users from malaysia

that hurts ah.gif
shelby31
I'm so sorry to hear that.I think they should find that person and get him to pay you back.
