Hello aa.gif

I am in the planning stages of what I hope to be an awesome PTC/PTR site. By planning, I mean I don't even have a domain yet. ac.gif So I guess research stage. LOL. Anyway, there is so much to learn, but this is definitely the fun part. I have been reading through the forum posts and have learned A LOT already. I just wanted to introduce myself. If anyone can offer me ANY advice on getting started, please do so. I plan to treat this as a business so I can make the most of it.

One question I do have... what other resources are there for site owners? This is the only forum I've found. If it is inappropriate to post links, can you please PM me with info?

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Thanks,

Tiffany

Hi and welcome to the forum bd.gif

Have thought about it too but there seems to be just too much work involved, you have to work really hard to make something of it and it also seems the days of just ptr-sites are over. So you have to start thinking about a script of $70 + PTP plugin for $90(?) + Hosting. You will need a pretty big hostingaccount with all the bandwith from members promoting the referral and ptp-links. And then comes the best part, read this: http://getpaidforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=71011 ninja.gif

The only other good site I know is beenpaid.com although all information you want can be found on this forum, there are a lot of good things to find here when you use the search-function.

Good luck with your plans!

Thank you!

The more I research, I'm starting to have my doubts. Is PTC really dead? There are still some great sites around. I'm not looking to get rich off of this, but it would be nice to have some extra money. Plus it seems like it can be at least a little bit of fun bl.gif .

But I don't know, I'll keep thinking about it.

Forget the extra money. It will take quite a while to earn your initial investments back and you will need to keep investing in new plugins and whatever else that keeps your members happy and in your program because competition is fierce. At this moment, most honest PTR programs are struggling and happy when they break even. If they make a profit, it's marginal at best. The only PTR programs who make a real good profit are the scams and the scams in the making.
As to fun: if you don't mind making long hours to earn next to nothing then it can be fun. To survive it's a must to run your program as a business but looking at the working hours / profit ratio it's much wiser to 'feel' it as a hobby - also hobby's are allowed to cost money. If you don't do that, you will burn out within months.
Links-2-Cash
of course, before you can have fun or profit - or even worry about the long hours - you have to actually find some members. It sounds easy, but it isn't. Everyone seems to belong to so many programs already that they aren't too interested in joining more of them.

It's a bit of a catch21 to get started. You have to have ads to get members, and you have to have members to get ads. The first set of ads you will probably have to pay for out of your own pocket.

Good luck, and keep researching. It's a lot of money to invest.
