Hi,
I would appreciate if you could give me some advice about a program who has quality adds, at least I can get some activity for the money spent
Freddy
The things I do to find a good site to advertise on TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE:
1. Join the programs that seem interesting. Never advertise on a site that you don't personally participate in.
2. Watch the ads. If it is a PTR site, there will probably be a lot of PTR sites being advertised and some oddball advertisers.
3. Take notice of repeat advertisers and what they are promoting. If you see an advertiser continue to market one program, the advertising is working well for that advertiser... which means people aren't just clicking through and not reading. And whatever they are promoting on there is working as well. You will get a good feel for what the audience likes by watching the ads.
4. Beware of multiple advertisers marketing the same program. I do not join or support sites that let their advertisers run wild like that. It does not give the best bang for your buck. While these sites may be great, and maybe I'll join as a member only... but when I am an advertiser, my thoughts and wants are much much more different. I stay away from sites that care more about their members than the advertisers. I am more likely to advertise on a site that cares more about advertisers as none are ever really equal.
5. Be a member for a while and see if the program you wish to promote is being promoted by another advertiser. If it isn't, test it out. If it is, beware that there are aggressive advertisers out there. Depending on the experience or rather the cash the advertiser has and you overlap their promotion with your own referrals... you are not only going to get less referrals... but if the advertiser is territorial, they will fight you with more advertising to get the point across that this is their site to advertise this program. As a new advertiser on a site, you haven't established a relationship with the owner of the site, so should an existing advertiser choose to dellute your ads by adding more of their own... a program owner could very well not allow you to compete with the other advertiser if they care about their site and keeping the other advertiser. When something like this happens, it's best to contact the webmaster and request an ad change to a different program you'd like to promote. Getting into Ad Wars is not good for anybody.
6. Once you've found a site that you like and you've tested with a small run. Start trying to build a relationship with the owner. You do not need to advertise on many different sites to get good results... you just need to be consistent and have a website you work with that gets lots of new members a day.
7, Do not treat POs or WBs like you are doing them a favor by advertising on their site. If you've had good results, constantly tell them how wonderful their advertising is and how much of a great experience it is working with them. They will like you so much more for it. I have been given free advertising on a number of occassion just because of the way I treat program owners and webmasters. You will know you are high on their list when they start contacting you on their own to tell you about new services they have coming up, or to update you on the new members, or even to remind you that it's probably time to put out more advertising. The program owners or webmasters can be a valuable source, they know more about their members than you will.
7. I said it already, but I have to say it again. Treat the POs and WB nicely, they can do wonderous things if they like you. Don't sweat the small stuff and if they make an error, don't jump all over them. A real advertiser will make relationships with the sites and treat them like partners in this endeavor, good websites will be wanting to do the same.
8. Always use a program or online service to send your ads through that will take the viewers to the program you are promoting. An Ad Tracker. You need to be aware if you are being ripped off by a program either by not sending out the ads or tampering with the Stats page where you analyze the number of clicks vs the number of referrals. Be consistent with this as well. You must keep count on your end as well.
9. Do not send money through PayPal to a website that is not verified. Granted one of the sites I use is not verified, always find out if someone has advertised through that site and confirm the ads went out before you attempt to get money to unverified accounts. I'm not a PayPal wiz, but that is what I was told.
10. Be aware that it is easy to get referrals. Yes I really said that. The trick is how many you get for how much. Advertising to only end up with 3 referrals is not success. Do not allow yourself to get referral happy and spend wads of cash for money you may never make back. It is not easy to find a good site with low ad rates and excellent response. My acceptable amount of referrals is 2-3 referrals per $1 spent, though lately my track record has been 6 and a quarter per $1 spent. Set a goal for how many referrals you expect for the amount of money you spend, if that site can't deliever it... look for another one, or ask the program owner if they can provide you any advice on how to get a better response from their members.
Good luck!
