I have had it up to here with infoseek and Primeseek search engines. Everytime I search using one of these, my browser freezes (I use Firefox) and in one ot them I get this drive cleaner who is searching for any explicit material *(and I am a writer ) on my computer. Since I use a tab browser, and since I have some ptrs which the owner allows you to open all at once, this problem with Infoseek and Primeseek has gotten to where I have to get up from my computer and either heat a cup of tea in the microwave or put some clothes in the laundry as it is a waste of my time to sit on my chair and wait until it uinfreezes.

I have written to both companies without any results. Any suggestions?

Infoseek I believe is doing a lot of autosearches in the background, that is what locks you up. Some people have complained of trojans/viruses from there too.

If you can post URLs for the portals with valid refid's then it's easier to see what they are doing. Maybe you could write to the PTR sites that send the links if there are 0 iframes and autosearches on there, as I think many sites will stop sending this type of thing.

Use noscript for firefox to block those scripts
