`thanks Brian!!! I am so Glad for this forum, if I had never found it I would never have guessed people could send hacker emails making it look like a real buiseness. any time pay pal supposedly writes to me I check the headers now and this one looked totally weird to me and I jsut now logged into pay pal and there is no note there telling me that I have a problem. Do you think I should forward this email to them? Probably wont do any good tho ah.gif Thanks for answering me aa.gif If there was a problem with pay pal they would tell me when I log in right? that is what I am going to ALWAYS do as I saw one lady got hacked there and they took a lot of her money ah.gif I HATE hackers!!!
any way, hope ya had a nice EAster aa.gif
Brianlfc
By the looks of things, a lot of people have received this email (me not being one of them)

So I guess a few have already reported it, it won't do you any harm letting them know, but I don't suspect they'll do anything about it ah.gif

As for Hackers, there is only one word for them SCUM, pure SCUM!!!
ruhappytoseeme
I contacted them and can you believe they have a contact form just for fake emails! I sent the headers and I sent them to the forum to see that 3 people so far have wrote in that they got it (I am betting many more have and also that many have actually went to that site and are now being hacked ah.gif) hackers are lower then scum they are the scum on the amebos that are crawling in the scum on the bottom of our shoes (could say something else but it would just get edited LOL)oh and I cant spell LOL
Brianlfc

I received the mail too I'm not even a member from Paypal... so I clicked... I provided them my login and password to access my hotmail account and some others av.gif aj.gif aj.gif
debra2
I got it too... you can tell by the link... plus IF you logged in and there was NO LOCK in your browser window it's not Paypal. Every page in your acct is secured. Plus when you click on it... you get

http://212.34.63.253/.../paypal-login.com/...ehttp3a=paypal/

which is not a paypal url. aa.gif I did look up what the limited access was and IF I had had limited access there would've been a flag when I logged in where I could fix the problem. There wasn't one when I logged in. If ever in doubt don't click ANY of the emails go to your acct there will be a flag.

I hate hackers really... but I mean what can ya do... all I needed to change my PW was my CC number! UGH!
surfjunky
Huh ???

Soooooooooo ... you don't USE your Hotmail account ???

Why would you give them real data for ANY account ?

OOOOPs - that was meant to be a quote for cortega

Actually, I think this may be a good idea

Lets all click on the link, give blag info in the sign-in and let the hacker waste time trying to work out whats going on ad.gif if enough of us do it, they may get fed up and quit trying to hack our accounts, lol...

I'd say that any message, from PayPal, e-gold, Stormpay, etc, purporting to inform you of a problem with your account and offering a link to click, is probably 99% likely to be fraudulent. It is too easy for clever hackers to spoof such e-mails -- and PayPal et al have to know this as well. I would hope that any of these payment services who wanted to tell you of such a problem would invite you to log onto their web site via normal means.

I have to admit that I have occasionally clicked a link from the automatic notifications I get when I win an e-Bay auction. I suppose it is conceivable that someone who is intensely monitoring e-Bay could spoof these e-mails, but that would be much harder than a canned message such as we are talking about here. Even so, it is almost as simple to log onto PayPal and use their auction finder -- and eliminate any risk.

What I have done with Netscape is to set up a toolbar with links like PayPal, eBay, egold that I access all the time. They're always visible and it's just a single click to get to those web sites.

Any time you get a email from pay pal... do NOT go to the link, even if you have a account pay pal says it will NOT send any links in their emails. If there is a problem they will ask you to log into your account, it will be there what you have to do. I believe they should send a email to all their members and state that they will NEVer send out links, because not every member belongs to this forum and doesnt know these things. I feel for all the people who get hacked and lose some or all of their money and I hope they get all the money back. These hackers should get stiff punishments for these things , but of cource there is no sure fire way to even find out who they are ah.gif

They already state that as part of their signup procedures, usually in the part that you have to acknowledge having read ai.gif

I do believe it is in there also, but I joined years ago and since then have joined hundreds of programs as have many others I believe, so I think it would be a nice thing for them to do to say send a auto responder message maybe once a year just stating that they NEVER send links in emails and to never click the link , just log into their account and see if things are ok. (soemthing to that affect) when you belong to so many places you dont always rember everything in the terms of each and every site and I hate to say it but many people dont even read the terms (they should tho cause you would be suprised at what some of them have in them ao.gif ) and yes for those that dont read them I guess it would be their fault for not reading them, but lets face it, hackers dont deserve to get payed because of someone not reading their terms fully, what they are doing is illigal and they should be the ones to pay not the honest member . I have seen people lose all their money because of a hacker and they are devastated . It would only be soemthing pay pal could do to help their members become MORE aware .
