I truly had no idea that sooo many people detest CAC scripts. I have spent almost $200 in upgrades on my CAC scripts, but a lot of people will still not trust them.

I am considering switching to CC, I would greatly appreciate any input from webmasters who run with CC scripts and if anyone knows who I might talk to about making the switch?

Thanks!

Hi, I use CashCrusader, and can only recommend them.
I can't compare with CAC, because I don't know what the package contains.
But with CC they keep upgrading and adding more stuff all the time.
I use it on bannerzone.dk

What is wrong with your CAC script ? Where did you buy it from ?
Why do you want to switch to CC?

The reason i ask these questions is 'cuz, i've been thinking of buying a CAC script
Do you have a lot of problems with it ?

Your info would prove very valuable to me aa.gif

Hi there, the scripts I "think" are still on sale for 99.00, they come with a "conversion" kit that needs a programmer, pretty sure ian convert it for you fairly reasonably aa.gif

About CAC scripts... The perl CGI ones are fine with some minor bug fixes. I've seen them run sites with 40,000+ 'active' members.

About CashCrusader scripts... They're not bug free either but they have more features and the creator is much more actively improving them. If you can get them for $99 then that's probably the way to go.

This applies to people who are thinking of buying scripts for the first time. As far as whether or not to switch an existing CAC CGI to CC... It's not as necessary as a lot of people will tell you :-) Definitely don't switch to CC if you're looking for better customer support.

Take a look at the CC feature list and decide if there's anything on there that's worth the conversion cost... if so, do it :-)

I've had experience with cc, cac cgi, and cac php.
CC is my first choice any day.

I have not had many problems with CAC scripts. I was occasionally "losing" an account (the member's account blanks out) every now and then, which aparently happens with CAC - I don't know if it happens at others. BUT, I back up my data base twice a week, so I caught them very quickly and restored them - 99.5% before the member even knows that it happened. I also got Ian's "fix" for that problem and have not had it happen since.

I actually like these scripts, they are easy to use, easy to edit, etc. But, I have no experience at all with any other kind of script. I have seen some features with other programs that I would like to have, but I do like my scripts. Other than the problem mentioned above, I have had no problems at all with this script.

Frank does do updates to fix "bugs" and offer additional features and he offers all of these updates for free. He isn't the fastest at creating the upgrades, but he is doing it. What he doesn't do, I find elsewhere - Ian ab.gif

Yep, that's the biggest bug in the CAC scripts... Since the last time we talked I've creatied a fix for it.

I hadn't done it before because it requires pretty extensive modifications and no one was interested in paying for the time involved.

Someone finally did, though, so now it's cheaper for everyone :-)

Are "CYGP - CreateYourGetPaid scripts" better than "CC - CashCrusader scripts"?

CYGP scripts costs $185 without the add-ons, it costs about $250 with the add-ons.

CC scripts costs about $100.

Are the CYGP script good enough to pay twice the price for them?

Please don't comment if you haven't tried both scripts... I want subjective point of views...

What script would you buy?

I will ask the maker of the script it he want to come and tell some things about it tommorow.

I run four programs, two with CAC and two with CC, I have come to like both actually. IF this is your only program, I would recommend making the switch. It is definately the premium GPTR script out there.

For admin, I like how everything is in one window with CAC, also easier to delete a block of members in CAC. Well for the web development disadvantage such as myself.

Ain't that the truth, John is truly more tech oriented than people oriented, though I would have to say if you get by his gruffness and lengthy response time, he does excellent work.
