laugh.gif I'm sure this probably won't last nearly as long as the "what are you listening to" thread.... but it seemed appropriate for Thanksgiving.

Right now, I'm cooking Cranberry/Ginger compote

4 cups fresh cranberries
1 cup sugar
1.5 cups cold water
1 Tbsp finely grated fresh ginger
1 Tbsp finely chopped shallot
1/4 cup molasses

combine cranberries, sugar, water, ginger and shallot in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Cover and cook until the berries burst (about 10 minutes). Stir in the molasses, remove from heat, and chill. Serve chilled. I wub.gif this with my turkey.

Nothing at the moment. But in a couple of hours I'm gonna make a green bean casserole and some mashed potatoes to take to my sister's house. We all decided to split the cooking up this year.

Turkey is in the oven. Ham is done. Will be fixng mashed potatoes. And will just have to heat up sweet potatoes, rolls, sweet peas, dressing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. We have pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and cherry pie. And heat up whatever MIL brings.

Nothing! Ex has the kids (I get them for Xmas). I'll cook the turkey and pumpkin pie tomorrow! I've got the gravy, green beans, sweet potatoes, and cranberry sauce cans all ready to be go.

I might make "nuts n' bolts" later. Most people call it "chex mix," my Grandma used to make it to use up the odds and ends of stale cereal, pretzles and crackers. Throw in some nuts, some butter and spices, toast them up and you have a "new" snack. Can't tell she lived during the depression can you?
