I just been sort of "scammed" by two people from this forum who, they claim, were good with scripts and promises good results.

One, promised a script but after he got half of the money we agreed on, did not contact me back afterwards, whatsoever. And ran off with my money!

Second one sold me his bubblegame scripts but refused to help me install it.
And was very very rude saying like

"connect brains, dont be stupid. I wont answer anymore questions!" ar.gif

Duh! he was soooo nice before he got my money! promised to help and all!
And by the way, people only have ONE BRAIN! duh! am.gif

Thankfully, reductor helped me fixed the script. he found out loopholes and everything.

Glad to know there are still people out there that are honest....
Thanks again reductor! aa.gif

well .. posting these people right there would be the right choice - so nobody will get scammed by them again ac.gif

There are people out there who think that their reputation is worth less than $10 .. that's ridiculous. With good reputation it's possible to earn much more .. aa.gif .. and as we see there ReDuctor has earned some bonus points right away ad.gif

This brings up a good point... An obvious one but a lot of people don't seem to understand.

Just because someone says they are a web designer, programmer, webmaster, etc... does not mean they know what they're doing.

The vast majority of people I've seen post here about programming and web design are amateurs. That's all good except that they're not telling people this. They're selling scripts and websites that are full of bugs, mistakes and security problems... Assuming they work at all.

Basic rule seems to be that anyone who WANTS to be a programmer or designer will say that they already ARE. :-)

Also, you can definitely get cheap scripts from people in low economy countries (Russia, etc...) but you've got to be ready for a 75%-90% rip off rate. There are some good, honest programmers in these countries but, unfortunately, most are full of it. You have to understand that $10 US dollars are worth the equivalent of $50 or more in some countries. They assume westerners have it easy and have no problem parting them with their cash.

Up until now I haven't said anything because it really isn't any of my business, but now that people at this forum are getting ripped off by the dozens... Someone had to say something ;-)

LOL - It needs saying tho.

I've posted before for tips on script problems etc and the advice has been great - but I've not paid out cash to risk getting ripped off.

Ian I have had do work for me and he's been great - pity all aren't like that ah.gif
3a3 has done work for me too - and put up with me changing my mind at the last second lol - and that had been great service aa.gif

1Level - 3a3 is right - name and shame so others don't fall into the trap. You can't be accused of anything against them if they have promised something they haven't delivered.
1LevelMatrix
Ok....

I guess experience is the best teacher! ah.gif

The guy who i was talking about was the same guy screaming at the other thread, "SoftICE". He was soooo nice before he got my money. well, you know the story.

I just thought I'd give him the chance to explain himself to me, but no, he was soooo rude. am.gif And i am grateful to reductor for helping me.

I am planning on something like webewebin. Any programmer interested, please give me stats: (like how much total i will be spending on you ac.gif and other expenses)

Serious offers only please.
And only those who are REALLY willing to help when something goes wrong.

I admit i am dang with coding and scripting stuffs. So i will need help ac.gif

For offers: please email me at jhoi@dygo.com.Thanks!

Well .. I have bought scripts from SoftICE as well .. only not on this forum, but on Earnforum.com - that's something similar to this forum, only in russian language.

I had no complaints about those scripts, as I am a programmer and I knew what I'm buying. I mean I already knew that I'll have to put a lof of work in those scripts. The scripts were rather poor quality, but what else can I ask for $5 (I bought paid e-mail + ptc scripts).

As about poor programmers and SCAMers from Russia, and some post-soviet countries .. don't know I am from Latvia, that's a post-soviet country .. that completely depends on the person. There are a lot of cool programmers who are real professionals as in business communications as in programming. So please don't talk about programmers from certain countries but about programmers, naming them as individuals.

I'm asking this because I'm from a post-soviet country ... and I don't think that you can complain about my job a lot .. ac.gif I know there have been problems with my work for some people but I've tried really hard to do my best ac.gif

Actually maybe we should create a sticky thread of SCAMers who sell the scripts without resale rights or just scam people? I guess that could be useful. My suggestion to avoid getting scamed is to buy scripts from the persons you know .. or from the persons, who can provide you a working demo .. or ask payment only after you're satisfied.
SoftICE
Dear,
Let's place all under the order.

1) Scripts which he at me has bought, worker.
Has refused to establish I, for the reason that all this occured at 9 o'clock in the morning.
And me is accomplished it would not be desirable to be engaged in installation and to answer silly questions, all the same to sleep I too owes.
Well, I have established scripts for 1LevelMatrix
But here at once send questions, and as, and what for, etc.
This man not having any knowledge, has undertaken creation of the project.

If I such bad, and mine scripts bad. That what for you them use?aa.gif

The man, at all in condition to change importance in a configuration file.
And then shows what or claims.

Now he declares that mine scripts not the worker, and it's scripts has written ReDuctoR.
Though you use MINE scripts.
I can prove it.

And now about infringement of the copyrights.

Explain to me what right has ReDucToR reselling mine scripts, though he even them did not buy.
And roughly speaking HAS STOLEN.

P.S. Interestingly why the people consider that I buy one scripts, they buy a site.
As this man offered me to make also free-of-charge design.

to 1levelmatrix,
I wait for you today in MSN for an explanation of your acts.

Excuse me for bad English.
ReDucTor
Why would I want to resell your scripts? pfft, My mother can write better scripts ( Thats literally, I tought her too )

Where am I reselling your scripts? Where are your scripts? Please SHOW ME! I must be blind or something..
SoftICE
You sell them here:
http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/index.p...58&t=39008&st=0

And scripts mine here:
http://www.moregold.isthe1.com/bubble/

That's a silly response 3a3. I specifically said in my post that there WERE good programmers in your area. Of course it depends on the person, that goes entirely without saying.

The fact I was stating is that the majority will rip you off. I say this after 3 years of watching people get ripped off by programmers from Russia and other countries with similar economies.

I'm sure you're honest and that you know some honest people but if you were to get "programming" work done by 100 people from your area on, say, ScriptLance, 70-90 of them would rip you off or make you crappy scripts.

If you go with western programmers then the rip off rate is more like 40-70% ;-)

Do you understand now? I have nothing against your area but the basic truth here is that your chances of getting screwed by scripters are higher. When currency has so much more value, reputation is worth a lot less to most people.

There are good and bad programmers all over russia, Novasoft, the developers of Global Scape's CuteFTP is a russian group, while one of the top cheat developers for halflife(One of the most popular FPS games) is russian..

Sorry, that wasn't meant to offend you. I'm just talking about general stereotypes.

As about 70-90% rip-off rate, yes, that's possible. I have been ripped off by couple of webmasters .. and I know these feelings very well. I've even thought about making hall of shame on my own homepage, however I'm so busy with projects, that I even don't have time to work on my own homepage..

Actually these people don't understand that by making quality scripts they can earn a lot more than by scaming people with crappy scripts or just running away with their money.
Ian
You're right about that... but then I guess that makes it easier for those of us who do make quality scripts :-)

well.. yeah .. but the problem is that those scammed webmasters look suspicious on us, I mean they don't believe that we won't scam them. For example my last scriptlance project - a guy has been scammed multiple times already .. and he does not reveal all the details of the project until I don't show him that he can trust me. And when he sees that he can trust me .. he does not let me go away .. he wants me to code .. code .. code .. and code again. So I guess there's still a place for serious coders out there ac.gif
Ian
All of the ScriptLance (and similar) type sites are the worst. Everyone who uses them gets ripped off at least once, usually a lot.

But then having people bid on scripting jobs is a bad idea to begin with :-)

Yep, all kinds of room for real programmers, they're harder to find than it appears.
