Hi everybody

I'm writing this message because I'm so angry right now...

I'm new to ebay since it's been only a few months since I came to US. I like the robotics as a hobby and bought this book on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

I paid for the item at that instant like I do in all my auctions and waited for the book. When I received my book in good condition, I left a good feedback to this guy and waited for my feedback.
It's been almost 20 days and I haven't received it, I sent 3-4 messages to him saying that I left him a + feedback and expecting him to do the same for me also. But he didn't reply to those messages or left me a feedback.

Today I asked for the samething again, since I've got only 7 feedbacks and the first star is very important for me. I mentioned how important it is for me to have a first star. I also asked him why he is not leaving a feedback and told him that he was a powerseller because of OUR the positive feedbacks left to him.

And now, I'm on ebay and saw a NEGATIVE FEEDBACK saying POOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
ticked.gif ticked.gif ticked.gif ticked.gif ticked.gif ticked.gif ticked.gif

I don't get it. He is the one who didn't leave feedback or reply to my messages. SO WHY AM I THE GUY WITH POOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS?

PLEASE DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS SELLER... BECAUSE HE IS NOT WORTH A PENNY...

And one more thing in my language (Turkish)
"Bogazinda takilsin, zehir zikkim olsun, haram olsun"
Translation: "May the food you buy with this money stay in your throat and chuk you, may that money be poison to you"

I'm so so so mad... I'm sorry for posting this message but I couldn't stop myself...
If there are other boards like this, please let me know and I'll post this message to all those boards...

BOOKCOLLECTORGTM, I'll try to everyone I know to make a possible purchase from you, or people like you...

That goes against the way the feedback system is supposed to work. If you're happy with your product/service, you give positive feedback.

While I feel that it is unfair to leave negative feedback simply because I was e-mailed a few asking for it, I wouldn't recommend contacting anybody multiple times asking for it, either they're busy, or they're simply not going to leave feedback.

I see that you've replied to the feedback, which allows other sellers/buyers to know the reason, and hopefully this won't have too much of an impact on future transactions. The comment doesn't qualify for automatic removal; however you could also try, if you feel that the seller will co-operate, to withdraw the feedback.

OK I admit it that 4 times is alot but it is just 1 request per week. It is not much.

And EBAY seriously needs to reconsider their feedback policy. Have you seen those auctions saying:
Feedback will be left after receiving
Positive feedback received = Positive feedback will be left
Neutral feedback received = Neutral feedback will be left
Negative feedback received = Negative feedback will be left

So it means that if the item you receive is defective and you leave a negative feedback because the seller says he doesn't care, you'll receive a negative feedback too...

Is there any way we can start a signiture campaign for this?
This should stop... SERIOUSLY...

Why are we coming to this world if we can't change anything? Or at least make some efforts to do so...

Those kind of auctions do undermine eBay's feedback system, however eBay isn't exactly a new site, and I cannot see them changing the feedback policy in the near future.

OKAY SO WHAT IF IT GOES AGAINST WHAT FEEDBACK IS THERE FOR!!
WE ARE SUPPOSED TO ALWAYS BE THE GOOD GUYS RIGHT!!
I DON'T LEAVE FEEDBACK UNTIL IT IS LEFT FOR ME BECAUSE I GET TIRED OF HAVING FEEDBACK LEFT THAT IS UNTRUE AND FULL OF LIES.
IF A BUYER CONTACTS ME AND HAS A PROBLEM AND WE TRY TO FIX AND IT JUST DOES'NT WORK OUT AND HE LEAVES ME NEG. FEEDBACK THAT IS FINE BUT TO HAVE A GREAT TRANSACTION AND THEN ALL THE SUDDEN LEAVE NEG AND NEU. FEEDBACK WELL THAT IS JUST PLAIN WRONG AND CALL IT PUTTING MYSELF ON THEIR LEVEL I GIVE IT BACK

sorry about the all caps post didnt realize a had done that and not going to retype the whole rant

Sorry, but I have to disagree.

Feedback is OPTIONAL, you should never try to force someone to leave you feedback.

Just one friendly message is enough, if they don't leave feedback, don't have hte time to leave feedback, or don't want to leave you feedback, don't bug em anymore or your feedback will be rather coloured.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's right for him to leave you a neg, but for powersellers sometimes they leave feedback in big batches, and if you had waited just a little longer...

Anyway, yeah, I'll say it again. Feedback = optional. NOT a right. Don't push it!

And they have a term "feedback extortion" which means you are threatening to leave negative feedback if the buyer or seller doesn't leave feedback/exchnage/refund etc . I think enough complaints and ebay will shut down your account.

I agree it's optional but I also think they have to work at making the system a little less simplistic. I've read that people won't leave feedback til they get feedback...Why have it at all then. If no-ones gonna budge what good is it?? And it comes pretty close to the "extortion" they describe.

Maybe some sort of points system where they break it down into SHIPPING, COMMUNICATION, DESCRIPTION ACCURACY, etc.

I wouldn't have negg'd the OP but I would have let them know about the rules especially with them being new to ebay and all. Not a really cool seller IMHO. thumbdown.gif

I too would not leave feedback until I have received it. I also am not required to leave feedback. I can understand that if this person thought you were bothering him just to get good feedback that he may be disturbed by the messages demanding that he give feedback.

You will need to pay attention to what you are doing and do not leave feedback until you get it. That is all you can do. You cannot make people give feedback.

I think that everyone has made good points in this thread and think that you will need to decide what you will do next time from the experience you have because of this. Whether you decide to leave feedback after they have you are not obligated at all to leave feedback. I generally only leave it when someone has been extremely quick in shipping and so on, or when they have been so bad that I feel the only recourse is to inform others.

attagirl
They point here is to ask you what have you learned from this experience, and how can you prevent it from happening again. People have posted what they would do, now is the time for you to make a game plan and be sure to stick with it, even if someone contacts you to find out why you have not posted for them. You need to make sure that you do not tell them I am waiting for your rating? This could get you in the end. Just state that you will place that rating once you feel it is time. If someone pressures your rating, you need to be firm and state that it is not required to give a rating and that you will post it when you choose to.

I once sold items on ebay. Once I had problems when I bought something. The seller said that I never paid and I sent a money order. To avoid negative feedback, I didn't reply again. What happened was the one incharge of selling got sick and put her husband to do it. He apparently was new at this so he messed me up. I didn't get the item or the money back but at least my feedback is at 100%.

And it seems only 1/3 of people or less leave feedback when they buy something.
the_gnome
If you take a look at the seller's feedback "left for others" page, you'll see that he has left over 1500++ feedbacks and that he usually does it in batches:

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...&item=-1&de=off

So if you had just waited then you would have most likely got a positive. Still doesn't make it right for him to give you a neg though. Live and learn. smile.gif

thats great! Always making people happy should be everyone's motto!

Ach!!! This stinks. Personally, as a seller, I always leave my buyers feedback as soon as they've paid me. I know I'm taking a risk, but I feel it's the right thing to do since they've already held up their end of the bargain. A lot of power sellers will wait until you've left them feedback -- and many more will wait up to a month later and do an entire lot of feedbacks at one time.

As a buyer and a seller, I never request feedback. I just don't think it's necessary. If someone doesn't leave me feedback, I chuck it up to poor buying/selling skills and move on. If a seller doesn't give me immediate feedback after I've sent payment and waits for me to leave feedback, I either won't leave feedback at all or I'll leave a positive with a lukewarm "thank you".

Lesson learned. That's all you can do. Since your feedback is still fairly low, could you just start fresh with a new account? Good luck in the future.

I'm new as well and have sold five items and only have had 2 feedbacks dry.gif

I forgot to mention... sometimes if you're wanting feedback in order to increase your selling power, the easiest way to get it is through BUYING. Look for things on Ebay that you would have normally bought in a store anyway -- you may be able to find it cheaper AND you're much more likely to get feedback through a BUY than a sell, anyway.

For example... my daughter needed a new pair of tennis shoes. I always buy her converse tennis shoes, which cost me around $26-$28 dollars in a store. I was able to find a brand new pair on Ebay for $18 including the shipping. So I saved $10 AND my feedback score went up. Not to mention that the shoes came right to my door and I saved money on gas and time on shopping.

I don't buy just anything... but if I can find something I would have bought anyway, at a price equal to or less than I would have paid in a store, I grab it! Also consider buying Walmart or Target gift cards. You can usually get them a bit cheaper than their actual value and then use them for buying your monthly groceries. Pocket the difference and watch your feedback go up! Sweet! biggrin.gif

You have got to be kidding. You are telling people not to buy from a Powerseller because they left you negative feedback??? Feedback is not a requirement or a "right." Just because you buy something doesn't mean you get positive feedback. Sounds to me like you kept bugging the seller and finally they had enough and gave you negative feedback. I would have done the same thing. Consider that maybe the person is busy, and leaving feedback is not the first thing they do all the time. Sounds like this buyer over-reacted alot. When judging a seller don't just read feedback from one person. If somebody is a Powerseller, they didn't get there by not knowing what they are doing! biggrin.gif thumbup.gif
