Since I no longer sell on Ebay or Overstock, my fees are minimal at the other sites I sell at.

Most charge FVF of up to 4%...but no higher. Basic listings are free at all of them. Enhancements vary greatly. Some even have a fee based membership. (IE: $5 per month for unlimited listings with all enhancements free and free store and free upgrades.) Froogle feeds seem to be the norm for the smaller sites.

But the biggest thing most people are looking for is a site with promotional plans. Being able to keep up with growth and auction tools (IE: Bulklister)

CS has to be willing to listen to suggestions and interact with the members as well as keeping them updated on what is going on.

Pretty much covered what I would want but just thought to say that in order to compete with eBay you must have one thing that they have and that is HUGE advertising.

That's very helpful friends.
see,i have thought of a new feature that's"a person while joining will be give a choice of products that he would like to receive stats.like if there's a laptop is just been placed, the person who has selected to receive notifications of currently selling & newly added laptops will receive a notification about the product.
I feel this will help the sellers alot.what do you say?.
I need more suggestions.keep them coming.

moneyearner
that's really a good advice. smile.gif

need more suggestions from you buddy. thumbup.gif

Hey bellaD,
i saw the site in your signature.it has 5.25% as ebay.where in INDIA ebay final value fee is 10.2% & 4% education cess fee.that's a total of 14.2%.
i would make 4% final value fee.that's it.i will obviously have listin fee too.but it will be very low.
BellaD
The notifications would be a good idea.

I asssume you were referring to AN USA as the 5.25% FVF.....TAM is set at 3% I believe. AN USA is just a networking site and right now I believe they are still offering everything free as is their auction site EBuys USA....until 2006.

As a seller, what I'd want in a site would be:

- Outstanding Customer Service
- No listing fees - FVF are fine - I make $$ --- you make $$
- Fair fees for enhancements
- Auto-relist functionality - "List until it sells" option
- Customizable "stores" or storefronts
- Active monitored forums for discussions
- BUYERS, BUYERS, BUYERS!!!
- Advertising/Promotions
- Bulk Lister
- Invoice Generation
- Some Auction Management Tools
- Great Categories and sub-categories
- Site sized properly (for now and growth) - speed !!

As a buyer, what I'd want in a site would be:

- Oustanding Customer Service
- Intelligent Search Functionality
- Speed and Ease of Navigation
- Ask Buyer a Question function
- Shipping/Handling on ALL listings
- Seller T&C(s) on ALL listings
- Appealing "site design" - landing page can't hurt my eyes!!!

Hope this helps -- I'll add more if I remember/think of more things!!
moneyearner
thanks alot for so many well arranged points.

i agree with the i make money you make money idea!!!
It really is hard to pay listing fees over and over and still not sell an item.
BellaD
That is one thing Ebay and Overstock can't seem to understand. So in the process of ignoring what their members want, they are losing sellers and buyers. Most are heading for othe smaller sites that listen and building their own websites.

When Ebay was the only real auction site, they could dictate the rules. Then Overstock tried to make a so called stand but have become a baby Bay and are following Ebay's lead. Listing fees and re-listing fees. Needless to say both have felt an exodus.

Newer sites are usually started by ex-members of Ebay. Some are even powersellers so that should say something! But it never seems to sink in.

So look at Ebay and Overstock...do the exact opposite of what they are doing and you should have a decent alternative!!

This definately states what I look for in an auction site. I think that too many of them are forgetting about service and are only concerned with bringing in more and more money. Although that is what business is about, if you have no customer service or people using the service then you really have nothing at all and these sites need to remember this.

I remember when ebay has just started out and their customer service was good, the seller fees were excellent and the overall site was great to use. As their seller base increased so did the fees and this is why people are leaving. If you remember they used to advertise all the time, once they got the sellers then that stopped as well.
ThePlace2Shop
Flat fee per bulk numbers $10 for 20 ads $20 for 40 etc
