Xupiter in links [URL's] that we click on from supposedly 'reputable' webmasters that obviously are NOT checking before they send us the emails. They just slap those links in the emails they send us and we, their 'members' [aren't we one of the sources of income for these people?]get zapped ONE MORE TIME by this disgusting 'spyware' Xupiter! (May their creaters burn in ######... )

I email the webmaster to let them know, paste in the URL that, when we click on it for 'credit' takes us to a site that 'gives' Xupiter and rarely get a response. It is obvious reporting it to them does NO good since it continues.

How can we be 'loyal' members with this continuing to go on?

Half the time the WM's dont know that it is in there because it is already on their system, you cant blame the WM's for that but the site that has it.

i fought for a long time to remove all the xjupiter junk from my system and still kept finding new places it hide itself almost like a virus and then it would reload nextime i got on the internet.
I did finally find the solution A friend gave me the link to a free program called ad-aware. it scanned my system and found 23 xjupiter and other strange tools bars i thought i had deleted. It has a llog so you can check what it found to make sure it is not something you wanted. and it will quarantine instead of delete if you wish so that you can restore later if you find you needed some file. I recovered 2 mg of hd this way

The best way to get rid of viruses, hackers and spyware by downloading a firewall (Zone-Alarm for example, which is free if you don't upgrade it), buy a good Anti-virus software (Norton for example) and downloading a good spyware remover (Spybot is the most powerful and free).

if you are using IE, you can lock your toolbar. just click on View, Toolbars, Lock the Toolbars.

this does not stop xupiter from getting loaded on your system, and i don't know anything that can block it's being loaded.

it does royally miff me when it gets loaded on my system, 'cuz it changes my homepage.
i'm gonna contact a WM of a program i like about this shortly.

a couple ways to get it off your system: download Spybot S & D ... it will also clear LOTS of other garbage from your machine ... or just go to the xupiter homepage (well, it's NOW YOUR FRICKIN' HOMEPAGE ANYWAYS), click on the FAQ link and scroll to the uninstall link... you have to reboot your machine to get your previously set homepage restored and that always gripes my arse, but that's the way it is.

Try this:

tools>internet options>security>custom level>activex controls and plugins--be sure all of these are marked "prompt" or "disable". Anything that tries to download into your computer will cause a prompt box asking if you wish to download "blah-blah" or whatever is trying to download. Just click no and no unwanted downloads aa.gif

I've NEVER had anything download into my computer(thank goodness ai.gif )

I got both xupiter and sqwire and got so ###### off I could not function for hours.

It prevented me from accessing many files on my computer and literally controlled my computer. This is what I used to remove it:

Keep in mind too that some traffic exchanges are easy target for this worm. since so may thousands of sites are rotated daily. From now on I pay for my traffic rather than exchange for it.

locowolf:

go here for SpyBot. It's a freebie download (but you can donate to the programmer, if you choose to).

it's not a firewall, but a way to get rid of spyware/scumware, etc.... and who needs all those nasty things on their box when we're talkin' about $$$$

Ok, just for your info -

Traffic Ranking for Xupiter - #127
Traffic Rank for Huntbar - #2197

This is how many people have this crap installed on their cpu.

I just recieved huntbar on my cpu, and it didn't prompt me to download it. And Norton, adware, spybot all can't detect it.. The only program I found so far is one that I have to pay 30 bucks for..

Xupiter supposedly has a uninstal feature, but it never worked for me.. You have to download it from their website ar.gif

And the Huntbar one didn't work for me either..

You can delete it from your system registry.. but I am not messing w/ that in case I mess up and my cpu crashes. Instead, I will be initializing my hd in a few weeks..

I got huntbar from a PTR.. and I am not sure which one, but I think I have an idea which one it is ar.gif

Try going to your start up menu and see what programs are running when you boot up. Deactivate anything that isn't necessay. I had Lop which is just as annoying as the others and I tried Spybot and Pest Patrol but they didn't find all the files associated with it. Finally Ad aware removed what was left over.

Ok here is my experience with Xupiter. I first came upon the site by following a link from a paid to read email site.It automatically added things to my favorites menu and set my homepage to their site.So I emailed them for removal instructions, they sent me to a portion of their site with an uninstaller. I uninstalled it and thought that was the end of it. Not!
Shortly after I began noticing strange things going on with my computer. My screen would scroll and I could not stop it, would just have to wait it out. Also certain sites I could not access, including paypal's site. So I checked my computer for viruses with an anti-virus. 2 viruses were found, 1 I could delete because it was located in an unimportant file, but the other infected the msdos system file and of course the anti-virus said that it could not be deleted/removed, I even tried 5 more anti-viruses, all said the same thing.
And as my luck would go, I bought a computer that came pre-installed, so in order for me to fix this I have to buy a Windows Me disk and reinstall windows and they are around $200. This site should be sued!
monica
You may not have to spend all this money... get a good programer that would remove it from your computer but in dos or safe mode........ check out my forum... the links to the site there gives instructions as to how to remove it with out having to reinstall.

go here http://www.1-tonclicks.com/cgi-bin/yabb/Ya...;num=1045977917
monica
due to the nature of the xupiter program do you think that the owners would really give you the correct means to remove it. I think they would want to leave a few files that can again spout to reinstall the program at a later date. do not trust them. use the instructions given on the other sites mentioned in this forum thread... not xupiter
