In fact, here's the email
Letters Brenda Received Thanks To Rhea :-)
"Well, I was very sorry to receive your email
requesting my vote for no war. This attitude may
surprise you - after all, no one WANTS to fight in a war. However, I have
an opinion and insight that you should hear.
My husband is a soldier. He has devoted his life to defending this country.
He spent time in two wars - Vietnam and the first Gulf War. While he didn't
want to do either, when the country called him he answered.
What you don't understand here - and what many people in the country don't
understand - is that Saddam Hussein is a very real and dangerous threat to
thousands of US servicemen and their families (wives and CHILDREN) overseas.
The US military has soldiers in Kuwait, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the Department
of Defense has US civilian employees in many countries that are RIGHT NOW
within range of Saddam Hussein's missiles and biological weapons. Often
I hear people say that Saddam Hussein is no threat to "us", but he most certainly
is a threat to soldiers and their families overseas.
I try to believe that it is just ignorance of the
facts that makes so many people in America ignore the threat he poses. It
is possibly just because they don't realize exactly how many soldiers are
overseas in regular duty positions and are in range of his weapons. Fortunately
for those soldiers and their families, George W. Bush is FULLY aware that
the lives of those soldiers and their families and children are in danger.
He cares about their lives and he is doing everything he can to protect
them from harm. Saddam Hussein has said many times that he would like to
kill us (Americans) all - and I believe him!
My husband, my daughter, and I are moving to
Heidelberg, Germany in 16 days. This will be our 3rd tour overseas. Right
now we are heading into a
country that is not liking us very much, and quite
frankly we are concerned. However, this is the
lifestyle we have chosen - a lifestyle of service to America - and we will
fulfill our responsibilities, despite how many Americans hate us for it.
Obviously I can not sign your petition, because it
would be disloyal to every soldier I know, and
especially those soldiers serving in overseas
locations that Saddam Hussein has the ability to
attack. I guess, also, that I will leave the
Tombmailer because I'm pretty sure I'm not the kind of member you are looking
for.
Whatever you may think, the young men and women who
are serving overseas do it out of love for our country and its citizens.
I think you should give them another chance."
AND
"Reah............
Since this email you sent out to your members was
not a paid to read, or from an advertiser, I can
only assume that you so stupidly sent it yourself.
Where is the link to vote for blowing that ######
dictator to ######? What you have done is show me that you are nothing but
a traitor to the United States! No one wants a war, but I will be damned
if I would ever put my name on anything such as what you have presented to
members. You make me sick! Please apply my earnings towards buying a one
way plane ticket to some other country where scum like you belongs, and hope
like ###### that the plane isn't blown out of the sky by terrorists supported
by Saadam"
AND, ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
"I know you love to send the members little joke or stories so I taught you
like this one since it concern my country and the us and by the way it is
the first time i come ot the site since you have change it great look.

A COUPLE OF FLYING SQUIRRELS."
**** MY UNASKED FOR OPINION!!! ****
Everyone, including Rhea, the owner of Tombmailer, is entitled to their opinion
about the possibility (or perhaps inevitablity) of war with Iraq.
Now you get to hear MINE, since I've received some hate mail directed at
Rhea and feel the need to reply.
No-one in their right mind WANTS war, but even those quite opposed to it
will certainly buckle down and tend to the job at hand if (more like WHEN)
it comes.
To argue over it is pointless. We all need to serve the interests of our
country in our own way, and it is the very heart and soul of the USA to be
able to accomplish this as we see fit.
I personally served my country from 1989-1997 in the Air National Guard.
I was proud to have been in the military and had I the opportunity to do
so I would reenlist in a minute! I now feel that I serve my country to raise
my children to be law-abiding, respectful, and well-educated citizens.
With regards to the petition against the war - it is their RIGHT to feel
that way, and I as a citizen of this great country say - you go, folks!
And to those of my friends who serve in the military, I say - my heart and
prayers are with you. I hope you all survive doing the job that so many
of the rest of us are too selfish to do.
I've never met a military member who was 'for' war, but they also know that
if it comes, they will do their job.
Are those 'for' "peace" able to say the same thing?
War between Iraq and the USA simply another chapter in what's been going
on for centuries. Even if it's averted now, it will come up again. Our
world is too small, too easily disrupted, to be at peace with so many differing
religions, political systems, and economies.
For those who want to do their part in preserving their ideal of what the
USA is about - define what patriotism means to you, be it serving our military,
serving in a soup kitchen, or signing peace petitions. It is good to stand
up and work for what you believe in. Only by standing up for what you believe
in will you discover your true values. As long as you have come to what
you believe in through growth and thought, no-one can deny it.
If every single one of us stood up for what we supposedly believed in, there
would be no child abuse, no poverty, no litter... none of the things that
plague our communities. But many people do not do that. They are selfish
and self-interested, they want THEIR portion, but aren't willing to work
for it.
I do not always do MY part either, my apartment is a mess... I do not always
provide my children with a good example, and I must confess I was so disgusted
last election I didn't vote! But I know that I was wrong to do that and
I recognize my lack. How many people blithely go along and DO NOT REALIZE
they are neglecting their civic duty?
Keep your corner of the world clean and productive. Keep up to YOUR standards.
You will make far more difference in the world that way than signing a petition
or arguing in a chat room.
Look inside yourselves beyond the 'for' and 'against' - has your lawn been
mowed, are your children clean and well-fed, do you help out in your community?
If you are against our President, did you vote? Do you involve yourself
in the governing and development of your community?
My point is this - quit throwing stones and do your job as you see fit.
You can quite quietly make a HUGE difference, and you should.
End of soapbox.
