Hi all,
sure most of you already saw that:
A brandnew gptre-Program pops up and hundreds if not thousands of peolpe sign up, you have run some paid advertisements for those programs to get in fast and make a nice downline ..... and then?
Only a few days later the site is down!!
And when you ask what happend, you get responds like servercrash, viruses, hacker attacks and what ever ... and sure: WE LOST THE WHOLE DATABASE, you must signup again and lost your downline!
Be sure, i won't signup for those programs again any more, i'm really tired about that!
How can this people call themself a webmaster when they are not able to read and follow up the instructions they recived, when they bought their program? Why are they not able for the easiest but also most important steps?
MAKE BACKUPS, and when you run CAC-cgi scripts, it's the easiest thing you should do DAILY especially at the beginning when the membership grows very fast!
With the CAC-scripts it sometimes happen, that a single memberfile get deleted, when there are processes working on that file the same time.
In my 2 programs it happens about 5 to 10 times a week, but they don't lose anything at my programs! I check that daily (it's easy to check with a good ftp-program), and most time the files are already rebuilded BEFORE the members get notice from it.
Else they contact me and the memberfile is complete back in a very short time, with all earnings, downline and so on, so no one loses anything.
You see, it is possible to handle that at least with the CAC programs that build single memberfiles (one reason why i really love this programs!)
I only hope we all don't have to see those 'webmasters' again, who ignore everything about programs security and lose OUR hard work!

I agree with you Pluto.
I'm always one of the first few to sign up to new programs.
I advertise my butt off to get a huge downline; some new programs are successful and some or not.

I totally agree! It is just their way of not paying members and something should be done about all of these scams... what else can we do to stop these people?

Yes, I sent 3 emails out promoting autosurfnow, saw 2 go out yesterday and 1 today. The problem is it's not my referral # at the end anymore, was mine when I first signed up now it's someone else's. Someone is probably very happy getting free referrals off of me. So user #91, Merry X-mas from me, lol.

lol ... you would get more responses when you ask who were the unluckiest
In the last 3 month i lost roundabout 1,000 referrals on this way, the last program was SoRedTheRose ...
But i do NOT signup again there ... i'm really tired about this stupid game!
We are all humans and not perfect, and we all can make mistakes, but enough is enough (and when someone starts his own business, he/she MUST first think a lil bit about, right?)
Have a great Monday, greetz,

here, here......I too am not a happy camper this week.....
I will say that Will from greenletter offered to pay for my advertisement again at wherever I did it....which was really nice of him....if ONLY I could remember who I advertised thru
I have advertised so many in the past 2 weeks and with so many diff programs I can not for the life of me remember...oh well...I did re-join to greenletter again, as Will did make the offer, which was very nice of him

But the others...grrrrrrrrrr...I too will NOT sign-up with new programs more than once, if the lose the database, they have lost me for good!

I agree with all of your BUT!!
I backed up my site daily but my back up was screwed up and I couldn't restore it.
As a webmaster, i did everything humanly possible to get that database, and could not. I was in tears because I knew the reaction people would have

I understand that you would be upset, but please even thoughtful, careful, webmasters can be hit!!
I have since fixed the database error and have a server that backups every 3 days, so even if i don't take the time to save the database.
The server does...
And I have compensated members with a free silver membership..
People are already reaching payout at my site.
But you can only do such..
Just the other side of the coin...

I'm fairly new to gpt programs and I was beginning to wonder if losing data bases etc. was NORMAL and it really ticked me off after resigning a few times. Now I will not resign to a program that does this. It is not professional. Glad to know that its NOT normal.

I was backing up Country Cash Inn regularly, but when I re-uploaded it after the site crashed, the database was corrupt.
Our tech guy finally figured out what the problem might be- my bad connection.
I live in a rural area and we have very ancient phone lines. Even though I have a 56k modem, my speed is NEVER more than 26k, and typically as low as 8 or 10k (it goes even lower than that frequently).
I can't afford satellite.
Audrey (the manager of Country Cash Inn) couldn't back up using web tv, and the tech guy didn't have time to back up all the sites. He was working mandatory overtime at his offline job and only had a couple hours a day for maintenance work on all the sites. (doing all the technical stuff that us 3 gals didn't have a clue about).
If we had any clue at all that I was a bad choice for doing the backups, my biz partner Pam would have been doing it in the first place and we would not have lost Audrey's members at Country Cash Inn.
Pam now backs up the websites regularly with her great broad-band connection!

Sorry for you peronally but THAT is exactly the point i meant: you MUST know that risks and things you NEED to do, BEFORE you launcha gptre-program.
Here is a lot of help everywhere around, especially in this great forum, so you can ask in good time what you need to know, before you lose your whole brand new membership and the trust in you
Take a word from AA in a lil modified way:
It's not a shame not to know everything, but it is a shame,
when you know that you don't know important things and ignore it
freeandeasy, i don't mean you personally but all that 'webmasters' who crashed down their programs the last months .... so please don't be mad with me, at last this 'webmasters' lost the most for themself i think!
.... but i also don't feel much compassion ... sorry!

Could you have predicted that the database would be corrupt because your connection was slow?
I was faithfully downloading the backups.
To the best of our knowledge, we were doing everything we needed to do to be prepared for any contingency.
Sometimes the unforseen happens and we have no control.

it's not normal that speed on a 56 modem.
does your contract with your isp company not
assure a certain speed level?
oh maybe they should invest in new phone lines ok

The problem is not with the ISP, the problem is with the phone lines.
Our local phone company is a tiny rural company. They don't have the funds to put in better lines.

In all fairness.......a business owner who buys a business.....cant help if it gets hit by lightening either and burns to the ground..........
But it happens........
Doesnt make them a bad business owner
Just means they need to work hard to rebuild their business and reputation

@ jazmyni
ialready said, i didn't mean freeandeasy personally.
I earlier asked some of this 'webmasters' how they could lose everthing and if they didn't make a backup, and often enough the answer was something like: "I failed with the first backup and didn't make a second try so far ...."
so what?
I know, some backups are not easy to handle, like those that safe a real SQL-database in a text-file (they are not easy to read for someone who don't knows anything about SQL and if you already have a lot of members this files get a very big size, so some computers get problems to dislplay them).
But those who know about SQL should be able to see if the file is ok or not
That's why the one kind of CAC programs is that easy, with ftp you can download all single memberfiles and if needed, reload a single member back to the server, nothing else to do, especially recommend for new 'webmasters'.
How ever, i hope this discussion reminds everyone how important well working backups are.
I make the member files backups daily and i also check daily if the memberfiles are ok (no 'zero byte' files) and i always did good with this.
Or did you ever hear that Rewarding-eMail or AlohaCash really lost any datas?
Have a great day,
greetz, Heike
