On Feb. 10, I played an E-gold game run by GoldMachines - http://goldmachines.com/home.asp . They also have a paid-link program called Click4Cash.

I noticed later, as I was waiting for the payout, that their script had gone haywire. So I sent them an E-mail warning them of this. Here's an exact copy of the letter sent Feb. 10, 9:29 PM EDT to them:

QUOTE
I just blasted back to GoldMachines and saw this on the payout screen:

6  443122  $20.00
7  443122  $20.00
8  443122  $2.00
9  443122  $20.00
10  443122  $2.00
11  443122  $20.00
12  443122  $2.00
13  443122  $1.50
14  443122  $20.00
15  443122  $1.50
16  443122  $2.00
17  443122  $1.50
18  443122  $0.25
19  443122  $20.00
20  443122  $2.00
21  443122  $1.50
22  443122  $0.25
23  443122  $2.00
24  443122  $1.50
25  443122  $0.25
26  443122  $0.25
27  443122  $1.50
28  443122  $0.25
29  443122  $0.25

The thing is, I only played four times today!

Is your system all right?

Thanks,

In otherwords, I warned them about a haywire script. Anyone asking for a copy of the original E-mail will have one sent to them.

Do you know what I got for this?

First of all, I made four bets and was not paid payout for one of them. So I sent them two letters asking after the payment, one a general inquiry. Here's an exact copy of the most recent one I sent (the general inquiry) and what I got back:

The original gamers were paid-the only one NOT paid was the person who tried to cheat the database of over $200-and my programmer killed ALL of that accounts transactions.

Have you gotten enough money to pay the original gamers?

What this implies is: in exchange for warning them (early) about their bug-ridden script, I've been pegged as a "cheater."

I don't know how this issue will turn out; I started this post in part because I'm angry about having my hand bitten off by the GoldMachines crew when I helped them out. All I will say at this stage in the game is that evading blame for a poorly-coded script means that other script mistakes will not be prevented from happening again.

If you have previous emails that you sent to them, keep hold of them... If you find your e-gold account suddenly limited, then get onto ddu@e-gold.com or call egold... let them know you informed that site of the problem and they refused to listen, then labled you a cheater... When you send the emails to egold, if they ask for them, make sure you send it with full headers, that way they will have a Reference line, which will point that it came from your computer.

The same with the email you got from them, it will have a reference line within the headers...

My E-Gold account is empty right now, thank goodness. So I haven't had a chance to see whether or not it's been limited.

As far as the E-mails are concerned, I'll keep them all. I don't know how far this has spread; that response was obviously not directed to "me". I suppose that's the only way you can find out about possible backtalk on the Internet: pretend to be a neutral party and see what they say about you.

It's a shame this has happened to you..
Sometimes it's just not worth it to be nice to people. ah.gif

At this point I honestly do not know what to believe. The programmer said that the script was hacked. I do not keep deleted emails, but I do think I remember yours.

I did not mean to call you a cheater-I certainly hope you were not-but yours was the only set of transactions that went haywire-and it happened at a time when the database was world-accessible. As soon as I moved the database it was fixed.

Also-we had almost 50 spends that day with only 4 or 5 repeating like that, all the same egold account, and our egold was cleaned out. What would you think?

I will get a friend who knows what they are doing to look through the logs if you can give me the date. If, as you say, you only made the oroginal spens, and NOT the rest, then I will pay you. I have never cheated anyone out of money in my life, and do not intend to start now.

I started this site to have a little fun-not to cause hate and discontent, and not to keep peoples money.

Here is a copy of the letter written earlier. At this point I am not sure what to believe-I was robbed because the database was left in a web folder, and it appears that this particular account was the ONLY one that had ANY problems that I am aware of. We had a large ammount of bets over a 2 day period-the only ones duplicated were these particular ones.

I went to pay the original bets, and lo and behold-my egold account was empty! These games are designed to break even on my choice, but I had to go back and pay several people out of MY pocket.

If you had a case weith a massive ammount of bets from one person, the rest verifiable, and your account was empty when the password was in your database for autopay-what reaction would you have? I have no problems paying people-never have-but the account in question seemed a bit suspicious.

Definately understandable to have suspicions.
Maybe a different way to deal with it is to let the person know that payment has been temporarily put on hold so that you can investigate the multiple transactions.

Just a thought... aa.gif

I actually was going to paraphrase the letter which DarkElf reproduced. If you're interested in why I raised a ruckus, it's because I've been blamed for a few too many things (earlier) which weren't my fault.

Of course, I'm not alone in this; Fred Durst made a lot of hay slagging backstabbers.

This really looks like a situation where the programmer-hiree tried to blame "an outside hacker" for what was a lousily written script. Anyone coming from an office knows that this kind of politicking is impossible to stamp out. I should also make it clear that DarkElf has said that [he/she] was not the programmer.

So I'll wait.

I just got a letter from the owner of Treasure E-mail that might be relevant to the above mess:

QUOTE
Do not send any payments to e-gold account 512467 again

Because my e-gold account 512467 was hacked and all money was stolen by hacker

It happened to me twice althought I always change my password

I complaint to the e-gold servise. But they only advice me to protect the password and can not frozen that account and refund to me

It looks like the GPTR industry and other allied endeavours is being "hit."
