I don't think this is a good idea. There was a poll about music on websites some 2 weeks ago and the majority - +80% if I remember well - voted "I hate it". thumbdown.gif Unfortunately, I can't use forum search for some reason to find that thread. sad.gif

Oh yes, OVERWHELMING response of "Hate It" on the background music. More than 80% said they would never join a site that had the music. Messes up loading the page, and almost everyone (including myself) already has their own music playing anyway.

Plus... musical tastes vary. You're going to alienate more people than you please with adding those midi files.

Just a heads-up for you. Good luck with your site!

Today one of my members asked if it were possible to ban programs that add music to their pages. Apparently she was confronted with Donny and Marie Osmond earlier today unsure.gif not a clue who these people are but they must be really really bad to provoke a rant ticked.gif like that blink.gif

Perhaps I should poll my members on this... but I'm fairly certain what the outcome will be: thumbdown.gif

Argh! It scares me, especially when my speakers are on full value and suddenly some voice talks to me about an unlimited income oppertuinity, and I will never have to work another day in my life,

Sorry to dredge this topic up again, but one of my favorite PTRs recently got a new owner and *gasp*!!! She's put midis on the emails, the site, just everywhere.

I sent (what I thought) was a nice, friendly email asking to "pretty please with sugar on top take the music off", since it crashes my poor old computer, but still no response.

What can be done?? I've thought about just quitting the site, since the payout is $20 and at the rate emails come out, it might be 2008 before I reach payout...

ughhhhh why oh why do WMs subject us to this?

If you're going to add music to a site, include a remote control where the default option is that the music is off. Then a viewer can turn it on if they wish.
