What's a protected and locked domain name? aj.gif
tsquad
Protected most likely means "private." In other words, if someone does a whois on your domain, they will not see your personal information. Locked, on the other hand, means that the registrar will automatically deny all requests to change nameservers. This is especially helpful if you have any reason to think your domain might be stolen. Hope that helped. If it doesn't make sense, you need to read up a bit more on the topic.

I have gotten information when a site has been protected about who actually owns it so I think you will find that it means something all together... I Think Protected is about the same as locked, only domain service that I have seen use that is GoDaddy...

thank you all
My question was regarding what I found performing a whois:

Status: PROTECTED
Note: To help prevent malicious domain hijacking and domain
transfer errors, the registrar has protected the registrant
of this domain name registrant by locking it. Any attempted
transfers will be denied at the registry until the registrant
requests otherwise. The registrant for the name may unlock
the name at any time at the current registrar in order for
a transfer initiation to succeed
