This is a couple days old, but I'm getting SICK of places requiring tax ID when they aren't required to collect it!

They are only required to when a person earns $600.00 from their company.

Here's what they sent:

Hello Everyone,

Payment time is rolling around, several of you have earned enough to be paid,
yet you have not sent us an IRS form w-9.

And living within the US...

Also, isnt handing out your Tax ID like handing out your Social Sec #?

Yeah, I got this email as well, so I wrote back to them asking what about non-US members.

I also asked whether non-US members could actually use the search engine (as in being an affilate) and received this reply:

===================

Brian,

That's a good question, I'll have to ask my accountant about that. I don't see why you couldn't use the Affiliate Program, the UK is considered a "good advertising region".

I'll get back to you sometime in the near future.

Regards,
Curtis

So what now?

Am I allowed to use the SE? Will I be paid?

I think I'll take the ting down, as I don't fancy getting to the pay out and finding out I don't qualify.

Why can't they just give us STRAIGHT answers?
Brianlfc
Just noticed this to the T&C

===================

We Do Not Accept Affiliates/Advertisers from Non-English Speaking or Communistic Countries!
(If you Cannot Pay US Taxes, You cannot be an Affiliate of PennEsearch)

===================

Hmm, that wasn't there when I signed up, so I guess I'm not allowed to use the SE and might as well get rid of it ah.gif.

You should need to have to pay US taxes.....If you live in a country outside of that and make over $600 you do need to fill out a US tax excempt form however they will issue you a forgein tax thingy that you must claim on your taxes within that country

If someone earns $600.00 from a program, they don't necessarily have to pay taxes on it depending on their income, however the entity that paid it out has to report it to the government.
