FREESCRATCHANDWIN popups CANNOT BE BLOCKED, they only issue you an uninstaller and that STILL leaves crap on your computer!!

MessengerBlocker is COMPLETE SPAM! Below is copy of email they sent "APOLOGIZING".

We're sorry for the inconvenience. Some of our affiliates have been, without our permission, using Messenger pop-ups to advertise their products. We have no part in their actions. If you would like, we could turn over their names to you. Also, please accept a free copy of our program, along with a lifetime membership to our upgrade program for free. This should help you block these pop-ups. You may download your copy at:
http://www.messengerstopper.com/dload/mess...erinstaller.exe

Please let us know if you have any more questions. Thanks.

Please feel free if you all need to use this (evil grin)...this crap has GOT TO STOP!

if all else fails they can always be ctrl-alt-deleted.
Susy
Tried the c/a/delete. Not all of them can be dealt with that way. I have written back asking for the names as they volunteered, and also requested termination of these people. When people have more responsibility on what they are sending out as popups/unders/forced install proggies...then maybe things will be better.

BUT I FOR ONE DO NOT TOLERATE MAKING A BUCK AT SOMEONE ELSE'S EXPENSE!! And I'm SICK to death of this EDITED! And YES I have a firewall, popup blocker, the whole frikkin nine yards!

The next person busting my computer gets his greedy, money hungry, USELESS EDITED BUSTED. Plain and simple!

Any place that says their software isnt spyware should be watched out for.

Sorry, it's just that I've been hit in the past by a place that said their software is spyware free and found out a month later it wasnt. AFTER they had gathered some personal details on me...

######! That's where these pop-ups are coming from. ah.gif

you've been getting windows messenger popups? wow, good thing i have 4 firewalls set up and everything, i never get any.

don't bother with this software, messenger services are so easy to disable in windows XP, they exagerate the "Tweaking" required...

In Windows XP
Click Start
->Administrative Tools
->Services

Select Messenger, Double Click it
Where it says Startup Type: Choose Disabled.
Where it says "Service Status: Started"
Click Stop
Click OK
Close Services window

There, you're done. Permanently protected from Messenger popups, and you don't have to worry about spyware, etc. involved with the use of 3rd party sftwr

If your smart. Use your firewall to your advantage.

I know its not legal, but do a backtrace get their IP address.

get a nice little NUKER and have a ball.

Just dont send trojans and such. I kept getting PC scans and they were major ones not the minor little i dont care about ones. PC stoppers.

So i back straced got my nuker out and bang bang bang.

I nuked three people for scanning me and sending pop ups. I dont get them anymore. And i doubt they have the abillity to send them either.

Just be carefull what you do and how you do it.
Susy
Thanks Caesar, yeah got firewalls, but obviously not enough aa.gif but I'll try the other suggestions.

LMAO!! Dave, if I weren't in love my my personal geek ae.gif
you'd be my next boytoy ab.gif ag.gif His specialty is tracking/tracing/hunting down and nuking (and in the nicest way possible lol).

Sorry for the spew, but some people grrrrrrrrr
wisper198
It's not legal to backtrace an IP?

I could swear my McAfee Firewall does that...

Don't have XP? You can try this-
the Messenger service runs through TCP port 139. Block it. If you already have a firewall installed, that should take just a few seconds. Otherwise, get a reliable firewall, I don't use free firewalls, maybe someone else can help you on that aspect... if you're willing to shell a few bucks out for a good one, I would recommend Norton Internet Security 2003, it also comes with AntiVirus and protects you from popups, scripts, etc.

Let me know if this doesn't help
Susy
Ohhhhhh sorry sweetie, I just now found this thread again aa.gif that link is crap. The only thing I found worked on it was I actually let the program install, and had my AShampoo uninstaller take it ALL right back out. LMAO actually that's how the dang program QUIT working...just by installing/uninstalling fully!! Stupid scam artists are everywhere!

The best thing is take the advice of the guys, and get some good firewall protection. Black Ice is very good, and I'm sure several people could recommend some other ones. Black Ice has a 30 day free trial on their site...I lost the link but you can find it through Google, and there's a thread on this forum somewhere that talks about firewalls and where to find some decent ones.

Actually, until webmasters finally get the idea if they don't totally enforce the other types of popups OFF their paid's, and people who are trying to earn are more responsible for what they're attaching as popups, we're going to continually have these problems, and have to either download more programs or buy more to combat this crap. am.gif am.gif

Makes me sick so few people online actually are responsible and care about what happens to other's computers. This stuff ain't cheap, that's for SURE!
