You will need ftp to backup your database (unless you have a cash crusader script, in which case you can back up from your admin area.)

Well, i can provide you free hosting like i did for devil666 if you ask me nicely. (PHP4, MySQL(2 databases MAX), 20 MB) BUT, when your site will become too big (maybe we will upgrade to new servers with extra storage so it may not be a problem...) you will have to find yourself a new host.

My advice is to make sure you have a good firewall on your pc. Anti-virus is a good idea too, you are likely to get a fair bit of spam and unsolicited mail over time, which can often carry a virus, and quite a few virus's get passed around without people realising too.

I definately would NOT recommend that place. Layout doesn't look that professional for a hosting company, leaves a bad first impression for me... but the rates are HORRIBLE. They overcharge you soo much, you can easily find a place with no setup fee and offers 1 GB trasnfer per dollar, I think that place gave you only 2 GB for 6 dollars monthly + a setup fee.

Bandwidth = HEAPS!! you'd have to get luciditys Professional package and possibly even upgrade depending on how things go..

yes even for a new site..

theres nothing worse than putting a site up and completely underestimating your traffic and having it go straight back down again.. think about it.. when you first start up is when you'll have the most traffic with everyone from this forum and others rushing to signup in downline threads and promoting etc etc

lucidity hosting won't start getpaid sites on anything less than the professional package.

the professional package plus switching hosts is going to cost a bomb (at least, in my case) LOL

I've actually changed my prices around a bit. Go look, ptr's can start at any level but all have a $5.00 surchage for the cpu use. I wouldn't expect a new site to spend more than $10-$15/month (including the surcharge) for a while.

That is hosting offered by a friend of mine (I'm a limited partner), I have a couple sites there, the service is WONDERFUL!
You also get your own support folder in the forum. The support is not just for hosting, but also for your script.
Once you are hosted there you will not want to leave. Really!

Really, Lucidity is VERY INEXPENSIVE and has the benefit of the owner not only knowing what she's doing, but willing to learn what she DOESN'T know. She's a PTRE owner like us so she knows what's going on, rather than other companies that hate PTRE's but take our money anyhow.

Lucidity now has a proven track record as well!

If something sounds too good to be true - it is! You do need to make sure your hosting has enough support for a PTRE. Don't get cheap about it or all the downtime and other problems will kill your site.

Well, if look at the packages and the design like Xeose then the site is completely NOT professionnal and the prices are to high.

I don't knock what i don't know. Im just finding a good reason on why people like me should choose your hosting compagny. Im sure it is great (if i look at what you posted...) and like you said : "Well, as I always say, you get what you pay for."

Personally (for what i saw), I would recommend Go-Mama-Hosting for BEGINNERS that want to start a GPTR site.

No starting anything...I don't fight. And the topic is posted from a beginner. We do have sites hosting with us that don't need all of our support but we are still there to support then for any issues which may arrise. As far as someone like you, I can't comment because I do not know you. If you are referring to the fact that you are seasoned and know how to maintain your scripts, install all necessary upgrades, troubleshoot, program, ect. then I surpose you would find our hosting services even more to your liking. You see, we also have a lot of fun and help each other build our sites up and improve on them.
Most servers do not allow GPTR/C/S sites because of the bandwidth issues. We normally crash every server out there. If you notice, a lot of GPT sites move from host to host because they get suspended. We don't do that. There is only one reason we would suspend you; non payment.
So we are a hosting company for all. It is all a matter of opinion and who you are comfortable with.

Firewall is shield for your pc against hacking into in with any programs or script.
Good is to have firewall and anti virus as the same time..

Well, you could buy one or download a trial version and crack it but i don't recommend this.

hhhmmm I use Zone Alarm and Norton anti virus.....I don't recommend using free on something like this. Free=trouble. And you don't want that when it comes to your computer files and stuff. I think Zone Alarm has a free 30 day trial. I love it. To purchase is $20 or $30 and more than worth it. Look on ebay for Norton.
