Just received this. How dumb do they think people are?? LOL

Dear Sir/Madam,
We kindly ask you to install this update to your PC as soon as possible.
In the libraries of OS Windows? critical errors have been found. This errors
lead to destruction of the system files from your computer without an
opportunity on restoration. The given service-pack fixes libraries and does not
allow various Trojan modules to penetrate into your computer.

Yours Faithfully,
Microsoft INC

There is so much of this garbage out there that I finally had to set up filters for my emails to auto-trash anything that even hinted at being from Microsoft.

If they ever really do send out a mailing on something important, I'll probably never see it. tongue.gif

Just do not belived what the big company said when they send you email, because if it is form them why they do not have news about it.

Beside if there is update, there are windows update, that is what it is for.

Beside, the email is just too fishy, 1st, if they do got the computer info, therefore they should at less know your first name or so on.

2nd, they will tell you what OS version is. like Win XP, Win Me, Win XP2, etc.

Not that I'd fall for that one anyway!

Unfortunately, there are scams for absolutely EVERYTHING nowadays. We even have people running recruitment scams - using logos and names of large companies to try and lure interested job-seekers into paying up front fees (placement fees, immigration processing fees, etc.)

I hate mad.gif the morons that send this sort of thing out because there are so many innocent newbies who get these emails and get themselves into so much trouble, because they do not believe people can be that sick!

PS What is the best Linux to try out and where can I download it? I have been curious for a while and a free 40GB hard disk that I can use.

Sorry if I diverted a bit from the main topic smile.gif

You might want to try "live linux" ... you burn it to cd-rom and boot from it...you don't have to install anything and it won't damage your normal os in any way smile.gif Download from here

Thanks a million, will download it now. I am not worried about the other OS as the disk I have earmarked for it is empty.
