Why can't all webmasters send emails with clickable links? I hate having to cut and paste links....especially when 50% of emails are sent this way.
Is there some reason why it can't be done the same way for everyone?

i know the mass mailer that's in the CAC scripts hates AOL !
I had HUGE problems with it at first - tried everything & then Thea came along & installed a new mailer for me.
Everything has been great since!
So basically, it's that CAC scripts!

So you use AOL? My advice: Get rid of AOL!

I use free web based emails.....
I get clickables in the same email box that I get un-clickables, so it's not the email servers....
It's the program owners....

I've noticed that too.
In particular it's been happening to me with Pocketjingle and ElectroEmail. It never used to though - just lately.
I thought it was just me.
And I don't use AOL either.

I forgot to put the AOL link in for the last search in the paid e-mail I sent. Oh well. We make a mistake once in awhile sending them.

I use a free yahoo mail account and am with about 30 PTR sites of the 20 or so that actualy send mail I have no problems with links. the only PTR listed here that I am with is PJ and I dont have any problems with their links. I would say yyou need to try the sites you have problems with on another freemail site

It's the email program that makes a difference.
Standard CAC mails don't mark the email as HTML so some mailers (such as AOL) don't convert URLs into linkable links. That's why you see the additional <a href=' for the AOLers and others that will translate it into a link ....

Hi Robyn......Which e-mail program are you using?....I ask this because I never have to cut and paste, not one link.
I use msn.com...and hotmail..and my own outlook express...maybe it is the e-mail program you are using or you are on aol...and then I dont know anything about that...just thought I would ask

Out all the programs you have named...I do not have any probs with them...they all send clickable links to me...so dont know what it is....I would say it is something to do with your pc, and the way you have it set up to view clickable links......maybe look in interent options and see what you can see.

I use Ultimate Emails and Yahoo.....
I don't use AOL......
There use to be one program that I couldn't get clickable links for using Yahoo, but it was only 1 program and I'm not with that program anymore....
What I don't understand is that most of my emails are in clickable form, but those few programs are not.....
I will look in my options to see if I don't have something checked off.....

http://www.paidprogramreview.com/scripts/r...ner.php?EA=xxxx (this is another link)
See how the 1st one starts out with my email address and ends in it? This is how my UN-clickable emails are.....
The 2nd one is a clickable link.....
So, is it the scripts of the programs??
I get clickables and un-clickables at the same email address, so this is why I question it......
Help???

This just started happening to me on 3 accounts I have. I had no problems clicking their links until about a month ago. The ones that start with my email address are the ones that need to be copied and pasted to the IE line.
How I take care of this is I forward them to my AOL email address and click them from there

lol I know some of you aren't going to like that solution. But that is what I do, and then later on I go into my AOL email and click on those emails and they load right up!
I emailed the owner of one of the companies to let her know that this was happening all of a sudden and it was blamed on the fact that their site was having problems. Now, that the site is ok, the problem still exists. I'm not sure anyone knows why this is occurring.
Thanks

The link that is unclickable is not done properly.......but, I dont think it is by emailevolution....as all my links from them are clickable......there must be something going on with your pc, about the way it displays HTML code.....It is very weird indeed....I still think it must be something happening between when they send it, and when it hits your e-mail.....Maybe you should ask around and a few forums to do wih computers or e-mail.....as this has me stumped.
Maybe even Jay would be a good person to ask, as he is pretty cluey so is John from myecom?.......
I can imagine this is a huge paid for you Robyn, as it would be for me

.....and to try and forward them would take sooo long, as you cant mass forward them, unless you copied and pasted them all into a new e-mail and sent them to a diff e-mail account, like your outlook express....
Let me know if you find the reason for this, as I am trully interested.

i recommend lycosmail (mailcity formerly) - i haven't had to cut and paste any links using lycos mail.
however when i was using hotmail i had to do that at least a couple times a day and they have that annoying hotmail frame over every link that you click - doesn't allow you to sign in some programs.... also it makes you sign in for every link for some programs. annoying.....
Brenda@PJ
Feb 7 2003, 11:47 PM
Now that is interesting that PJ mails started doing that for you... do you know if it just started after we moved to the new server? I haven't changed a thing in the links, so there's something else going on.
But, I did notice it happening for ME with dutchemails among others. I even emailed the webmaster of a program and they were pretty snotty about telling me it wa my fault...
Are they all Cash Crusader scripts??? John did an update that encrypted things so maybe that affected it... I have NO idea why it's doing that and I am sorry.
The CC script automatically puts AOL links in there too.
By the way, I happen to LOVE AOL. Shame on you for insulting my paycheck!!

Your 2nd link is a cash crusader script link (myecom)
John has considered AOL in his scripts so all links should be clickable.
Sounds like the CAC site's mailer isn't compatible with your e-mail account.

with some email clients if the hyperlink is to long it seems to cut it off (making it unclickable)
I have this problem with my orcon mail.. quite often I'll be through half of them and oh no have to do the old cut/paste

The problem I'm describing with PJ and EE is totally diffeent.
I get the emails with the links set out properly, but when I click on the link, I get the HTTP error message - but when I copy and paste the same link, the page loads.
That's what I don't understand. It doesn't always happen - just sometimes but it's only been happening since all the problems with the hackings etc.
Does anyone know why that would be?

For those with Hotmail... The best way to do your paid emails is through Outlook it stops from having that dumb

frame on top and it's just like checking a POP3 email....

Do any of these PTC sites that you are a member of say in their Terms, "DO NOT USE A FREE EMAIL ACCOUNT - SUCH AS YAHOO,ETC?" Of course, this is just a wild guess as to why you might be having problems.
I don't know - I'm just trying to help.
I get all my email from thes PTC sites in my normal Outlook Express acct, and I have not had any trouble with any links working (Even PocketJingle after the upgrade), so I really don't believe that this is the webmasters fault.
Good luck - I hope you find a solution!

I use a yahoo account and rarely have a problem. But when that http error page shows. I do a page refresh/reload and then do it a second if necessary. If i have to refresh/reload a second time I ususally get an error message that i have already clicked that link. So I have no idea what causes it. but obviously it is going through. i just thought it had something to do with heavy net traffic.

Not to confuse matters more...but the problem I see with PJ emails is they wont work in netscape any longer....(whether I copy/paste or just click). It gives the message:
Not Found
The requested URL /scripts/scroll.js was not found on this server.
and shows the url as:
http://www.pocketjingle.net/scripts/scroll.jsNot sure if that javascript file could have been moved or why IE wouldn't have the same problem. The links do work when I copy them into IE.
