Well, I log in to 1heluva this morning to find I have 0 earnings due...wait a sec...I never requested payment...I shoot a quick email to Fred, he replies back that early this morning a payment request was made for eGold account 632039. Guess what? NOT MY ACCOUNT!
Lucky thing eGold is offline and Fred didn't pay it yet. I am SO SICK of these hackers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These people need hanging up by their private parts. I remember when someone got into my ebullion and sent all the funds to someone else. Unfortunately I didn't get my money back, but I felt that my privacy had been violated and I was very angry. I wouldn't have any hesitation whatsoever reporting these thiefs to their ISPs and even their local police station if you can locate it. Sounds like you were lucky, we should start an e-gold blacklist or something, which would allow us to view an e-gold number and if its blacklisted, they don't get paid. Does e-gold have any security for duplicate accounts? If so, I think a blacklist would work.

A blacklist is an absolutely excellent idea!
I could set up a page at my news site.

It is way too easy to set up multiple eGold accounts. Half the reason many programs are stopping eGold payments or adding other security options. And the fact that once a spend has been made, it is final...THAT ticks me off to no end!

out of curiosity, are your passwords of heluva the same as your usual PTRs ? If it is you should have a different one for it.

Isn't there an option in your egold account to restrict access to your own ip?

oh dear, now i am worried myself. by the way, you can ask e-gold to trace who is holding that account you know? maybe they can freeze it or something like that.

They won't...but the hacker didn't get paid luckily. eGold will do absolutely NOTHING in cases of fraudulent transactions. When my eGold got hacked a few months ago, they basically told me it was my own fault and that there is no way possible that their system was compromised. I only lost a few dollars, but it was the principle of it that made me so mad

actually on second thot, could it be that there is a trojan in your computer where they can 'see' which website you are going and then capture your login id and pwd. in this case, it may be good to have a personal firewall. i own one and there was once when i was surfing heluva and my personal firewall told me that there was this ip with a trojan that is trying to access my computer. i reported that site to fred immediately via the report pop up.
just my 2 cents worth.

I have a firewall and a trojan guarder and just ran a full system check for anything that may have slipped through. What is weird is I had the same password for all of my 1Heluva accounts (but not anymore!) and only 1 was affected. hmmmmm

You'll never catch the most determined thief, as they'll continue to get what they wanted, but a blacklist would help, even if just the webmasters used it, if webmasters share the egold numbers, it would make cracking down on cheaters better. freeandeasy, set it up :-) even if it doesn't benefit anyone here, I think it would be good for webmasters.

There are ways to confirm e-gold accounts. I posted up not long ago on this forum in reguards to this but never go a single enquiry from program owners. I again offer this information of comfirming a person owns an e-gold account, as well as other information. If program owners want to know this information please pm me. Only Program owners, I wont give out this information to others.
As to setting e-gold up for IP's, you can do that, but the only problem then is you cant log in from any other computer or ISP, makes it a problem if you have to make a payment.

But it would work for most people, I think. That's better than nothing.

IF you are on cable, then you can just do your own IP, problem with that is that IP changes now and then...

OK, do you know how to set up a password-protected page where only paid-to owners could signup to access the pages devoted to cheating info?
The only way I can think to make it work, is, paid-to owners can apply, and would have to be approved members (after they prove they are site owners, like, for example, they would have to apply using their webmaster addy).
There would probably be more evolve from this than just a list of fraudulent egold accounts.
