If your engine had been blocking credit for international searches then you would not be getting this kind of traffic.

Also, they would not cancel your account for something like this, they would ask you to reduce the traffic first.

Keep in mind that SearchFeed cancels the accounts of the majority of PPCs in this market for traffic quality reasons (not country reasons).

Reachtop, I did receive 3 emails from you that you sent to the right address and I responded to all of them. Apparently my replies are not getting to you.

Unfortunately all 3 emails came from the same address so I had no way of getting through to you. Try resending from a different email addresss.

To all... I only have email problems with servers in 3rd world countries that are spam blacklisted and servers on certain networks that are setup incorrectly. I get and send dozens of emails every day just fine :-)

He has no need in lying to you to get some extra money ... I don't buy that.
I suggest you let Ian do all your work so you won't have anymore problems with wrongly installed scripts.

I'm the one who has installed the two additional feeds.

The things look to me like this :

- I have installed two feeds.
- The search engine was working well.
- Someone else have tryed to install something.
- The search engine stops working.

So who is responsible ?

My advice to all (search engine owners, programmers, all) - make backups !
I'm making, so if something goes wrong I can restore the scripts files.

Reachtop this is one of the silliest things anyone I've worked with has ever done. There is no reason to try to make this some kind of public spectacle.

Now... Listen carefully... If you move this site to another server it will begin working immediately. Will that be proof enough for you?

If you don't want to do this then I will remove my recent upgrades from your site and refund your money. I don't care about the money. Is that clear?

If you believe someone who tells you I am a both a liar and greedy after all the help I've given you for free then I do not want to work with you.

One last thing... It is true that the files are not in ASCII mode. They are in a format I have never seen before using some kind of non-standard carriage return character. I didn't realize this at first until I had done some testing.

Also, for accuracy's sake. This guy told you that ascii and binary mode does not matter with scripts. This is completely untrue, many perl scripts will not work when uploaded in binary mode. I didn't think there was anyone who didn't know this?

So like Ian said the first time : the files were in binary format and he cannot make the upgrade (in this time the search engine was working). After that, I have re-saved the files in ascii format (the search engine was working again). So if the search engine is working with binary and ascii files ok, what is the difference. Perhaps there are server in which the format has any matter, but in this case the perl interpreter is openning the files no matter how they are saved.

Now about the "some kind of non-standard carriage return character". There are two type of carriage return. DOS/WIN - 0x0D 0x0A and Linux / Unix - 0x0A. So what exactly non-standart carriage return character did I have used ?

And one more thing : Ian have modifyed some files and uploaded to the server. By doing this he has completly overwritten the old files. So what matter there is how they were saved (ascii/binary) or what type of carriage return character they were using ? By doing the upload nothing is left from the old files. Just don't get it how it was possible the old files to do something with the new ?

In fact, Ian is selling his service , also,he has right to set up the rules you should follow if you need he help.

Just to clarify trax... The file format problems didn't have anything to do with you and I never said they did.

It was something with the server reachtop was on. He's on a new server now and, after reformatting the files, everything is working.

I'm glad Reachtop's problems are solved, because this was the most important. Btw I know other search engines using the same hosting and have no problems at all.

To anyone who has been trashing Ian in this thread, I just want to say, in my experience with him, he has been kind, fast to respond, honest, and very patient.
He has absolutely gone above and beyond the call of duty.
I couldn't have asked for a better programmer for LookJunction.
Anyone who needs a SmartSearch programmer, I will send them straight to Ian (and in fact I have referred 2 people to Ian in the last week or two).

Unix/Linux/Windows... Pretty much any hosting that has perl and is generally configured correctly.

You actually don't need any MySQL databases if we're talking about SmartSearch... It is possible to put advertiser bidded listings into MySQL but the majority of sites have no need for this.
