As most of you probably know Nintendo has relased a new handheld, the DS.

My brother (intelligently) got one the day they came out (sometime in November). I didn't have any money at the time so I couldn't buy one.

Well I finally got enough so I went out to get one, EVERYONE was sold out. Still with high hopes I went to ebay and you can't believe the amount these people want.

I found 20 pages of people wanting $200+ for a $150 handheld. Thats 1000 auctions wanting the same absurd price. Now there are hundreds of auctions for $300 and $400 about 25 for $500 and some for $600!!!!

These people are insane!!

I did see one of $175 a couple days back, but i'm sure that was gone seconds after I closed the page.

Now there is a slightly used one with one game for $160, that will be gone in no time.

Wait until February, the prices will be back down to a reasonable level and the stores will have them and be having sales because that is a low sale time for most outlets. I couldn't find a memory card for a GameCube anywhere last year in December, but in Feb., I got a two for one sale.

There's some on there now under a hundred fifty, but with an hour left to bid, no telling what they'll cost - might want to follow them......
Starlite
This happens every holiday season when a new console, handheld or extremely popular video game comes out. The manufacturers make sure the demand is much more than the supply to drive up prices and create chaos. I am a advid gamer and see this all the time during Christmas. When I worked at Toys R Us it was nuts! Parents raising heck (substitute a more harsh word here) with employees stating we were hiding the systems and games. It's an all out war this time of year..

Don't see why the manufacturs care, all the resellers are buying at retail so they don't get any money.

Regardless, Ha!

I found a Wal-mart up here in the moutains that had 4 in stock. So I was able to buy at retail!

WTG - congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't pay that much for my kids one each. So I bought them the SP. They didn't take very good care of their GB Advance or GB Color. So, I figure if they want the DS they can save up their money for one. tongue.gif
