I have a BUNCH of ptr owners participating in this.
I am putting together a massive advertising package to auction off at ebay.
Proceeds will be divided pro-rata according to member base of each ptr.
Every ptr participating will be sending traffic to the ebay page, so hopefully it will sell for a pretty high price.
I haven't quite got the details of the package together yet, but so far the participating sites are:
Email-Loot
ZapCoin
MailBoxCash
e-mailPays
MoCashLotto
Paidntrade
1000levels.com
dollarsbyemail.com
sendmepaidemail.com
paradisehits.com
freeandeasy
sparky-mails
country cash inn
theta email
If this is real successful, we'll do it again!
If you want to participate, post here or pm me, and give your member count.

Few questions......since some programs have more members......are these all active?
ALso many sites send out Cheap links and some refuse to....not trying to make it complicated.....but it would be fair if one site due to thier onw rules had to send out as say 1/4 cent while others were sending out at .10
Just asking...I am still in

My tenative plan is for everyone to send a point mail or cheap link.
Also a certain number of banner imps for the entire group, divided pro-rata.
This seems fair to me, keeps everyone as even as possible.
If anyone has any better ideas, I'm all ears!

do something like each site send a 1/4 cent paid email to only 500 members or something. At least you'd almost guarantee those 500 would click.

I know a lot of you personally and I know you try to be honest and fair... Selling an ad package like this to some unsuspecting eBay buyer is a complete rip off.
You all know better than me how much overlap there is between member bases at PTR sites. If you sell a paid email at multiple sites you're selling someone the same email addresses over and over and over.
The same concept applies to banner impressions and any other kind of ad.
There are no two more similar memberbases on the internet than 2 generic PTR sites... and you guys are going to sell an ad package combining dozens?
If you want to do this with anything even vaguely resembling integrity then you'll have to total the member bases and divide by 4 to come up with a fair number of emails to sell.
Just though someone should tell you ;-)

I have to have counts because its the only way I can pro-rate the proceeds.
If anyone is reluctant to give a count because the membership is small, don't worry about it; a number of them have less than 500. I'm going to give the total count in the ad, not individual counts.
One more important note- to protect myself against possible complaints, when the ads are run I will want copies of the mails that carry the ad forwarded to me and to the advertiser.

There is 84k combined membership.
This is like the ezine subscriber services (when they sell ads)- they give the total count of all the combined subscriber base, when there is a great deal of overlap, and everyone knows that.

Cathy, you must know that sparta is right.
The only way this will be honest is if you tell people clearly in the description at ebay they they're buying overlap and that the majority of people are going to receive their email A LOT of times.

Because of the overlap of members, I also think the emails should go out on a schedule. We should not all send the emails on the same day. Maybe 5 programs send it out per day.

Just had a thought on the member overlap.
What if we give the winner a few (I don't know how many, for arguments sake say 4) different ad copies they can put out, and divide the companies involved into 4 groups - each group having a selection of companies with varying numbers of members - and each group sends out one of the ads - that way there will be more benefit to the buyer.
If we then as Ron said, send them out on a schedule it will be more likely the ads will get picked up at different times by the members.
I don't know how or if it would work, its just a suggestion.
I know it means a little more admin work, but I'm happy to help if need be - sounds like a great opp for someone to flood the market so it could attract some big advertisers. I can maybe get an ad for the auction sent out on RefRewards for almost nothing too

so we'd get another few thousand members viewing the auction

Yes thats a good idea. And I will accept your help. I would feel much more comfortable if I'm not the ONLY one handling this.
I want to start the auction today.
I need feedback from everyone.
Should the auction be for 7 or 10 days?
What should be the starting bid?
Later today I will write a rough draft ad copy and post it. Then I want suggestions for the final draft.

There is also the fact that the more you see an advert the more likely you are to signup/buy, letting them know there maybe an overlap is an idea BUT
I certainly wouldnt call it a ripoff

That's fine, so long as no-one has a prob with it

I reckon 10 days rather than 7, as this gives more time for buyer's to check back and up their bids - if we get enough interest we could start a good bidding war hehe.
(speaks the expert on auctions NOT).
Starting bid - I suppose depends on what the package would normally cost if bought individually. We could do with compiling a list of what ad is offered from where and what it would have cost, then work out the start bid.
OK, what I said here I just worked out the answer myself lol. So, if I get this right this time, Each company is sending to their memberbase (active members) so if each company sends in how much that would normally cost for the value of link they are going to send out (was is agreed it should be a small value link?) then we will be able to work out the cost if bought separately - is that right?
I've secured a link for the auction to be sent out in a RefRewards mailing (not a paid link as he'd want money off me then

) Thats a link going out to almost 40,000 people to go view the auction

yipee hehe.
I've rambled enough.

It looks like there will not be enough time to start the auction today because this additional info will need to be collected first.
It will be easier next time because we will be more organised.
Speaking of "next time", the rule will be, when you submit your site for participation, you have to give the member count with the submission, and, how much do you charge for a point mail or cheap link to your entire memberbase.
This will give all the required info in one fell swoop.

Combined membership is well over 100k.
I was thinking of 2.5- 3.0 million banner imps total. This should work out to about 25 imps per member. In other words, if you have 1000 members, you would need to take 25,000 of the banner imps. Fair enough?
I could take extra imps since I have a banner exchange.
Now everyone, how much do you charge for a point mail or cheap link to your entire memberbase?
