I need some ideas for the following two people:

1. My 14 year old son. He has Aspergers Syndrome (form of Autism) so is not athletic or social (skateboard from last year is still in the plastic). He loves sci fi and books (has full collection of sci fi books) Not into music or fashion. Should I stick with the boring old video game stand by and a certificate for the book store?

2. A friend who has everything. She doesn't want me to spend anthing on her because she knows my funds are limited this year, but I still want to do something special and personal. I was thinking of a package of dollar store tiny mixed gel candles, a psckage of mixed bath beads and a box of mixed herbal teas. Separating them all and doing up fancy cello bath packs with one candle, two beads, and a tea bag with a hand made tag on each one (ie: relax, soothe, for stress, after the hike etc.... ) Maybe add a small candy in each one too.

Any input would really help.

I like the #2 idea, and sometimes the dollar stores have like gift packs you can get, and they have an assortment of like candle and bath things.

I am not real familiar with Autism, but what might be a neat idea if he like sci fi is to get one of the lamps that put stars on the walls... sorta like this:user posted image

Transform your room into a 360-degree space planetarium. Watch as hundreds of stars and constellations are projected onto your ceiling and walls. Listen as you are taken on an exciting audio tour of the night sky. Control the hand-held interactive Meteor Maker to make the flashing streaks of light. Take a guided tour of the universe with the included Discovery Channel "Space" DVD and CD. It's just like being in a real planetarium!

If you have a hour or so spare why not search for stuff on Ebay there are loads of brand new items being sold there. Type in sci-fi you will get millions of results and you might find somthink you like.

As for your freind that has everythink why not MAKE them there xmas card this year. I always perfer home made cards as i know a lot of time and thought as been put into it. As for a present ebay again lol

For your son, I'm not sure what to do. My boys are both into video games, so that's what I usually get them.

For your friend, I like your idea. You could also put that stuff in a basket, arrange it really pretty. Personally, I like bath stuff. Bath beads, bubble bath, loitions, candles, etc. Also, find out what kind of books or magazines she likes and add those to the basket. The tea bags are a good idea with a new mug. Sometimes you can even find a bath pillow at a cheap price (I found one at the dollar store for a dollar once) and add that to your basket. Call it a Bathtime Basket Surprise.
OH.. and don't forget to add some matches for the candles.
Usually, you spend more on the basket than you do on the stuff that goes into it. But if you're shopping at the Dollar Store, you might find one at a reasonable price.
