Not sure but I suppose it has to do with the stock market, money changes daily and so do rates. I can go across the street to the stock exchange and find out LOL but not sure if i'd understand all that hand language enough to tell them to raise it for ya tongue.gif

For Uk the dollar is amazing. nearly $2 now to ?1 amaaaazing. i went to the Us on a holiday and everything is nearly half the price as in the Uk with the cool exchange rate but its bad for Americans coming to England because they cant get much with their money
Rasmus
It's also bad for me cos I have some bucks but don't want to exchange it because of the low currency rate. And it's gettin worse with every day.

The reason why the dollar is so low is because the USA has a very large debt to the European Union, the Middle East, China and Japan. For the big businesses in the EU that's good and not so good for those in the USA. For small people like you and me, it's better to buy something with US dollars than to exchange it for other currency. That's what the big businesses are doing too (and making a huge profit from it).

Yeah, the USA sure has a HUGE debt.
But it seems like all countries are in debt with each other..

The dollar is falling on purpose it seems.

It increases tourism which we need after 9/11.

It makes our products cheaper abroad.

And it irritates Euros...

Not really sure about this because since 911 they apply more and more strict rules on visa issuance. Many of my colleagues couldn't get a visa to enter US, even for an academic purpose (conference).

The exchange rate nowdays is very bad for european companies their products are less and less competitives...also for european people earning in the web as all is in US$.

Greenspan has risen interest rate in USA so I hope $ is going to go up also the commercial balance is getting better.

For many things is better to have dollar down ( travel, oil...) but in a long term I think that is better to have them equal( more less).

Other thing, nobody speaks about Chinese currency and the current rate is vey bad for EU and USA.
